Five Supremes Make It Official: Trump Is 1st Ever Felon President

The office of the presidency blackened forever thanks to Trump
(And the dimwit cowards who voted for him)

"A majority of us — a very slim majority, but a majority, with votes still being counted — have declared themselves okay with the vulgarity, the explicit racism, the disinformation, the erratic pronouncements, and the talk of suspending the Constitution, imprisoning critics and using the U.S. military to attack Americans who dissent." - Dana Milbank, Washington Post, Nov. 6th, 2024

The Supreme Court yesterday refused to block President-elect Donald Trump’s criminal sentencing for covering up hush money paid to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, clearing the way for an unprecedented court proceeding today in New York that will brand the nation’s returning leader as a felon.  And all those asswits worried over the price of eggs, bread and bacon (as well as housing) who put this scabrous rat back into the White House can be proud of themselves- for electing the nation's first felon president.

By a 5-4 vote (John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett joining the three liberals), the court rejected Trump’s last-ditch arguments to avoid what his lawyers acknowledged was the “public stigma” felons carry.  Now, the whole nation will also carry the stigma - for a majority of cretins putting this reprehensible reprobate back into power.  A power clearly unearned as we've seen the past few days with his threats to use the military to take back the Panama Canal and seize Greenland from Denmark.

I wonder if the "economy first" voters who cast ballots for this miscreant will now regret it.  Probably not yet, at least not until all their eggs and baby formula shoot up in price again as a result of his tariffs. We will see.  Also, how they feel when their Medicaid and food stamps are cut.

As I wrote in my Nov. 6th post and still stand by:

This sad and sorry country had one chance last night to get it right. To prove its sanity and commitment to democracy and flunked the test miserably, by letting Trump and his cabal of shit suckers back into power...That they could freely choose a monster who's openly threatened generals, political opponents and regular citizens with executions while mocking fallen soldiers as "losers" and calling migrants "vermin" - offends every fiber of civil decency. And to put this madman in again, knowing his fondness for tyrants like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un  - shows these voters who did it are not so much exposing him (whom we know already), but themselves - as utterly worthless dregs- and yes, garbage.  Who'd use their votes to empower a new tyrant.

They are no different from the brain-fouled "good Germans" who hurled Hitler into power, and rendered the entire world a hell hole for over a decade. "

The travesty of the Supreme Court ruling is that it should have been a 9 - 0 ruling, not 5-4.  As former DOJ prosecutor Andrew Weissman has noted, the process in the state court is always the sentencing first then the appeal.  Trump demanded a reversal of this order just to avoid being inaugurated as the first felon president. as usual trying to be king and dictator all in one and expecting the 'crew' of 4 he helped become SC justices to bail him out. Fortunately, Amy Coney Barrett didn't go along thereby preserving the rule of law. But truth be told she and Roberts likely only went along with the 3 liberals because Judge Juan Merchan ruled there'd be no time in Rikers ("unconditional discharge").   But perhaps Judge Merchan was wise enough to know this was the only way to ensure the slimeball would go down as a felon, i.e. there'd be a SC majority behind it.

Might the orange fungus appeal and get it reversed some time in the future? Sure, but that likely won't be for 1-2 years according to most pundits. In the meantime he's down in the history books as the first elected felon president - and those of us who are true patriots won't forget that anytime soon.

Journalists and political experts on Thursday quickly responded to the Supreme Court's 5-4 decision, declining to halt Donald Trump's sentencing on Friday, January 10.

Conservative Chief Justice John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett voted alongside the high court's liberal justices.

Health policy expert Eric Feigl-Ding emphasized, "The Supreme Court will not save Trump—Donald J Trump will formally become a CONVICTED FELON as of Friday morning Jan 10, 2025.

Religion News Service national reporter Jack Jenkins replied: "Looks like Justice Barrett broke ranks here, which is simultaneously surprising but arguably in keeping with some of the reporting on her misgivings in past cases."
