Biden Is 100 % Right To Demand Vaccine Mandates - The Dummies Can't Be Allowed To Let Delta Destroy All Our Freedoms

Overworked medical personnel trying to care for Delta patients

Joe Biden has finally had it with the excuse-making personal liberty freaks who have no truck with collective responsibility.  For over 6 months these nitwits and goobers have been allowed to run wild with their regressive, unscientific bullshit and excuse making.  All while the Delta variant has rampaged, filling hospital ICUs to the breaking point  - and health workers careening toward breakdowns.  As Janice put it:  "Enough is enough with these little assholes! They're wrecking it for all of us!  They want their damned freedom before the virus has been subdued."

So finally, Biden is now acting through a combination of executive orders and new federal rules. Under his plan, private-sector businesses that have 100 or more employees will have to require vaccination, or mandatory weekly testing, after the Occupational Safety and Health Administration drafts a rule. Roughly 17 million health care workers employed by hospitals and other institutions that accept Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement will also face strict new vaccination requirements, as will federal contractors and most federal workers.

It's about goddamn time!

The rest of the civilized world, where vaccine rates are already much higher - are mocking us as entitled throwbacks to Neandertals.  But that is really the Red state yahoos and their so-called leaders who've done everything to undermine national health while they ally themselves with the virus.

So bravo to Biden for taking action.  If the Right's media cornpones and crybabies thought he'd crawl into a whole after flaying him about the Afghan pullout they were dead wrong. Instead of backing down he's come out with a two by four.  And we hope in time to halt an accelerating surge from Delta.

The sweeping actions, which Biden announced in a White House speech yesterday, are the most expansive he has taken to control the pandemic and will affect almost every aspect of U.S.  society. They also reflect Biden’s deep frustration with the roughly 80 million Americans who are eligible for shots but have not gotten them.  These goofballs have instead run to insane quack "remedies" like horse de-worming meds, e.g.

The core issue all along has been how long the red state yahoos would be allowed to get away with their negligence while the rest of us paid with our own liberty.  Also, how much longer would Biden allow hospitals to be overrun by Delta infections because of the folly of the unvaccinated. All the while with bodies piling up to the point morgues have no more space.  Essentially then a tipping point was reached.  Even so, it may be too late as we learn a new variant called Mu is now in 28 states, and may be more lethal than Delta.  Even if it isn't the vaccine avoidance of the Red state philistines risks emergence of a new variant with the potential to overcome all the vaccines, as well as their boosters.

Time is indeed of the essence.   As Joe put it yesterday, directing his justified anger at the foot draggers and quack backers:

"We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin. And your refusal has cost all of us.”

This also - again - underscores the need for a vaccine passport which would allow only those who've been fully vaccinated (not partially) to enjoy the freedom of travel, restaurant dining or theater or sport attendance.

Excerpt:

"Republicans, always ready to destroy lives for some perceived political gain, aren't even hiding anymore that they think being pro-COVID is good politics. As CNN reports, there's "a GOP-wide effort to use the fears and frustrations of Americans worried about another round of school closures and lockdowns as cudgels against their Democratic opponents."

But, of course, the return of restrictions is the direct result of Republican efforts to dissuade Americans from getting vaccinated and keep those COVID-19 case rates high. It's important to remember that this is still a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Case rates are rising rapidly among the unvaccinatedwho tend to reject other prevention measures along with vaccines. There are also breakthrough infections, though they affect fewer than one-third of 1% of the vaccinated.

One of the primary arguments being rolled out by conservative media is that refusing vaccination is about "freedom" and "personal choice." But that is a lie. We know it's a lie because Republicans are generally fine with all other vaccine mandates. But most importantly, by refusing to do the right thing, the unvaccinated are stripping freedom and choice from every other American who got vaccinated. We stand by helplessly watching restrictions pile back on and our freedoms dissipate, all to protect those who won't protect themselves."
