Despite Stocks Cratering Donnie Bonespurs Continues To Try To Gaslight Reality- Putting Us All At Risk

Image result for Trump screaming baby images
"It's MY news turn! That virus is takin' away my blame the Dems an' fake news act! BWAHAHAA!"

"Whereas his supporters can be lied to and gaslighted, a virus cannot. A virus is going to do what a virus does. Viruses are not thinking and aware. Technically, they’re not even living things. They are like an army of androids, multiplying as they attack and infect living things. So none of the tricks that Trump has learned and deployed will work against this virus. Only science, honesty, prudence and genuine concern for public safety will work now."  Charles Blow, NY Times, 'You Can't Gaslight A Virus'

"This virus can't be bluffed or bullied and will soon become Mr. Trump's greatest adversary."     Walter Russell Mead, The Wall Street Journal, , 'Trump and the Pandemic', today, p. A15

"At a moment  citizens are turning to the government for facts and assurance,  Trump has been immersing himself  in grievances and feuds with Democrats and other perceived enemies."-  The Washington Post, today,  'Trump Struggles For Calm As Virus Spreads'

"This crisis has unhelmed and unmasked him. He’s incapable of leading. When it comes to Trump, truth, decency and self-possession have been in quarantine from the start.".  Jennifer Senior, NY Times, 'Trump Is Unfit For This Crisis, Period'.

You just had to love it if you are a Trump hater: The Washington Post story Sunday of how the blustering 73 year -old brat baby occupying the White House was pitching fits because the coronavirus was knocking him off the news cycle.  "How dare that virus get more attention than me!"   Yeah, but see, sonny, you regard the media as fake news anyway so why the bawling?

Before that the clueless imbecile and dyspeptic buffoon had immortalized himself by way of a number of incidents embodying how chaotic his responses have been:

-  When visiting the CDC on Friday spent 45 minutes hurling epithets including that Jay Inslee, the governor of Washington- was a "snake"

-  Then quickly asking if his town hall on FOX News "got good ratings"

- Then bragging how every doctor at the CDC proclaimed how Doturd "knew so much"

- To which his answer was "Maybe I have a natural ability"

Uh yeah, to pull bullshit out of your ass and then toss it out for public consumption - even when you have to know it's shit

But the most crucial aspect is the number of testing kits, the current shortage of which is leaving us in the dark,  essentially "driving blind" as one health expert quoted on CBS put it yesterday morning.   Given the lack of such kits and appropriate testing, especially of vulnerable populations - like the uninsured- there is little doubt this snafu is allowing the virus to spread.

To fix ideas, even de facto virus "czar" Mike Pence has admitted it "could be a matter of weeks"  before test kits are widely available. In the interim the COVID-19 virus could spread not just to thousands but tens of thousands,  Already we know no less than five Reepo lawmakers  - who came into contact with a known carrier of the coronavirus.  Included in the contacts are Matt Gaetz of Florida and Doug Collins of Georgia who announced yesterday that they had begun two weeks of self-imposed isolation.

Gaetz himself flew with Trump on Air Force One from Orlando to Washington on Monday and was informed en route that he had come into contact with a virus carrier at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland last month.  Meanwhile, Trump has falsely claimed the virus is “contained” in the United States and accused the media and Democrats of exaggerating the threat it poses, in an effort to make him a one turner.  The execrable maggot seems not to grasp he's doing that to himself.

As for his co-maggots at FAUX News (like Laura Ingraham) who claim this is all a "Left virus plot against the President" - they had better hope Dotard (given his age) doesn't come down with this and end up on a ventilator.   Then they will see just how much of a hoax or "fake news" COVID-19 really is.   See e.g.

Apart from the clownish actions at CPAC and the downplaying tactics of Trump and his FOX tools, the most critical issue remains how they've screwed the pooch with the test kits.  Thanks to the Trumpies blowing it with the test kits (not having a Plan B ready in case the CDC flubbed it - as they did with an early version of the test) not every one who wants or needs a test can get it, That, btw, includes nurses and other health care workers on the front lines.  And more than one of these medical workers has made it known our hospitals are nowhere near ready to handle a mass influx of infected people - subsequently found to be positive for COVID-19.

In the midst of this is the orange fungal growth with a red MAGA cap, who believes he is the one who ought to be at the top of the news cycle, and only in a positive fashion  - because he's doing everything "perfectly".  Yeah, right, perfectly wrong. Including lying his fat orange ass off by claiming something everyone with an IQ over room temperature knows is flagrantly false, i.e.:

"Anyone who wants a test can get a test.. Anybody right now and yesterday, anybody that needs a test, they're there.  And the tests are beautiful."

Can anyone believe this maggot-ridden asswipe?   I mean, just after this spooge fest we heard governor after governor and doctor after doctor  state this was categorically untrue given all states are in dire need of test kits and testing.  This was echoed by Dr. Walter Mills - president of the California Academy of Family Physicians who   told The San Jose Mercury News:  “We have no local testing available,”

And then Trump has the absolute temerity to squawk about the "Fake news and democrats" trying to bring him down, while his  FOX News acolytes acts as accessories after the fact. Now, I wouldn't believe this gaslighting POS pretender  if he called an emergency press conference tonight and said the COVID-19 vaccine will be ready in May.   The fact now is thanks to the Trump cabal's fumble on the test kits, there are nowhere near enough available for those who need them.  And without the test kits and strategic testing we can't know how widespread the virus is, or even its fatality rate.

But this so -called leader doesn't even recognize that you can't simply spout falsehoods about a critical test because you wish it were true, or you are trying to throw the media off its game.  Which is actually its duty to alert the American people - including Trump's zombie horde- of where we stand in confronting COVID-19.

What is Trump's game and why is he really so furious at the virus for making it impossible for him to control the news stream?  It is because he's being exposed as the shameless con man he is for trying to manage perceptions.   The dope came right out and spouted this regarding the cruise ship off San Francisco last week, where 21 had tested positive for the virus:

"I like the numbers being where they are.  I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship.  But if they do take em off then the 240 will probably be a much higher number and the 11 too."

Confirming once and for all this two-legged cockroach is unfit to lead, hell even to scrub a toilet.  He I so wrapped up in his solipsistic world of ego and entitlement he can't even see the markets are giving him a total thumbs down as president.  With the 2,000 point dive yesterday it's clear they also aren't buying any of his codswallop.  Why would they, given he's shown he's not serious about dealing with the COVID-19 but rather trying to bullshit the populace on Main Street and the traders on Wall Street using daft promises and happy talk?

Meanwhile, Trump's Reeptardo minions are desperately trying to save his orange carcass by trotting out BS that won't make a dime's worth of difference, like "targeted tax cuts" - compliments of  senile Chuck Grassley.  Oh, and "payroll tax cuts" - which is the last thing we need given they will only hasten the insolvency of Social Security.  For reference, the average increase in weekly wages from such a cut is about $15:00, or chump change.  Simply not worth the blow to Social Security, so the House Dems ought to fight it tooth and nail.

Worse, none of these efforts will relieve the enormously leveraged markets, i.e. based on investors' using debt to purchase shares - say $1 of personal money for every $9 debt - to get a $10 share.  This is a house of cards ready to collapse. Thus, even if the markets buy into Trump's bloviations  and "fixes" it will do nada to relieve the debt pressures ready to explode.  And if anyone doesn't think the COVID-19 virus can't be the great unraveler they need to read the WSJ article 'Network Effects Multiply A Viral Outbreak'  (March 6, p. A 17).

What is actually needed, as any rational (even non-finance ) person can see are supply side (fiscal) aids such as: indefinite paid leave for all working families,  increased unemployment insurance for anyone laid off in the current economic doldrums - and as shutdowns continue,  free testing for COVID-19 for those lacking insurance, and free access to healthcare facilities for all those showing symptoms.   One also can argue for an increase in medical capacity in the event infections out pace the ability of existing hospitals to absorb them. These should all be proverbial 'no brainers'.

Stay tuned.  Thanks to Trump's incompetence we are not out of this by a long shot. If you do the (exponential ) math, as Chris Hayes showed last night, we could be looking at 1 million U.S. cases by early May, and 8 million by mid- June.

Baltimore Sun To Trump: 'Better To Have A Few Rats Than To BE A Rat' - Suck That One Up, Dotard!

Image result for Trump as a rat images
Trump the human rat - who is unable to see the ratlike nature of himself.

"The core of this man is racist in a way that is so fused to his sense of the world that he is incapable of seeing it as racist. It is instinctual for him to attack people of color. It is instinctual for him to denigrate the places they live and the countries to which they trace their heritage...

Trump is a racist. Say that out loud. Say it with the profundity that it deserves. That to me is the beginning and the ending of the rationale I need to stand steadfast in my resistance."  - Charles Blow, NY Times, 'The Rot You Smell Is A Racist Potus'

It didn't take long before Baltimore's flagship, historically renowned newspaper (The Sun) had a spot- on response to the malicious human rat fouling the White House and the office of the presidency.  This was after the maggoty, orange-haired rodent fired off more deranged, racist tweets attacking Rep. Elijah Cummings.. This after Rep. Cummings properly reamed out one of Trump's Swamp Rats  (acting head of  Homeland Security) who agency oversaw horrific conditions at ICE facilities near the border.

Trump then attacked the House oversight committee chair, Elijah Cummings, on Saturday, claiming his congressional district in Baltimore was a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess”. But  this is choice, given Trump has had his own problems with rodents in his assorted domeciles, including Trump Tower and Mar -a Lago (where many human rodents also congregate). .  For example, in February, the Trump Tower Grille in the was reported for “live mice” and other health code violations.  (Including cockroach feces)

New York City health inspectors visited the restaurant on 11 July 2018 and found “evidence of mice or live mice” in and around the kitchen, a violation of sanitary standards that was deemed to be “critical”. The inspectors also found the restaurant not to be “vermin-proof”, adding that it was “conducive to attracting vermin” and “allowing vermin to exist”.  Well, what the hell does one expect when perhaps the most vile 2-legged vermin in history owns it, even as the same vermin is polluting the rest of the nation with his disgusting behavior every day.

All this needs to be exposed now as Dotard is hurling rodent epithets at Rep. Cummings.  For those who missed it. Trump in his 'on the crapper' tweets also called Cummings a “brutal bully” and said that Baltimore was “FAR WORSE and more dangerous” than the border camps. Let's also point out that Trump TV shortly before Trump’s rant, aired a propaganda segment comparing Baltimore’s more impoverished areas to the border camps.

The descriptions - as with Trump's reference to "shithole countries: 2 years ago - became too much for the editors of The Sun who then wrote "it was “better to have some vermin living in your neighborhood” than to be one."

Which words basically nailed it, because as the top image depicts, Trump is a human slime and vermin - and really - calling him a rat in a way does a disservice to rats. In finding useful terms to describe Trump it is perhaps better to go to lower orders on the ecological or food chain hierarchy. Say, like the brain eating amoeba, e.g.

After all, Trump "eats" the brains - what few there are - of his Zombie followers each each and every day. Often in bites (bytes) with his tweets, but sometimes in gulps - as when he went to a rally in North Carolina and within minutes had all the yahoos chanting "Send them back"  Evoking his display back in 2017 when he praised Neo Nazis marching in Charlottesville.
Far-right activists marched through the University of Virginia campus with torches on Friday night.

I mean you can't make this shit up. This is Trump. The national divider, the wannabe Fuhrer.  Human sewage, or the foulest excuse for a president ever to desecrate the office.   Thus The Sun correctly categorized Trump’s attacks on Cummings as a political ploy that can be filed with the maggot's other attacks - such as on the Squad. As the editors wrote:

“Mr. Trump uses attacking African American members of Congress as good politics, as it both warms the cockles of the white supremacists who love him,”
The Sun’s most scorching lines were as follows, writing in parlance even I had to admire, because it embraced words I'd use myself,

"We would tell the most dishonest man to ever occupy the Oval Office, the mocker of war heroes, the gleeful grabber of women’s private parts, the serial bankrupter of businesses, the useful idiot of Vladimir Putin and the guy who insisted there are ‘good people’ among murderous neo-Nazis that he’s still not fooling most Americans into believing he’s even slightly competent in his current post.”

Bravo to The Sun's editors for their robust defense of Baltimore - which city wifey and I lived near for just under nine years (after moving from Barbados) . We still have fond memories of, in terms of the arts, its symphony and the scientific conferences I attended at its Convention Center, near the Inner Harbor, e.g.
Image may contain: 1 person
Baltimore also has some of the finest scientific institutions in the nation including the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics lab, and the Space Telescope Science Institute. Of course, Donnie Dotard as obtuse human vermin (and orange mold) wouldn't know any of this when he hurls his rodent epithets. This is given he can't even see the rats in front of his own face, including the feral, two-legged one staring back at him in his mirror.

Lastly, it was almost inevitable that a garbage -eating, garbage- spewing rat like Trump would pick a rat like Rep.(R-TX) John Lee RAT-cliffe to succeed Dan Coats as Director of National Intelligence. Thereby replacing the last adult in the room with an overambitious, underqualified, juvenile delinquent and sycophantic butt kisser. (Recall how Ratcliffe sucked up to Trump during the Mueller hearing with his idiotic semantics act.)

We can now be certain whatever Kim and N. Korea do will be studiously ignored if RAT-cliffe becomes DNI, as national security takes a back seat to appeasing Dotard's boundless ego. In the meantime, Trump went off the mental rails again using projection to try to displace his racism onto the Democrats who've stood up to his sorry maggot ass.

We'd better hope with or without impeachment, we have enough citizens with sense to rid ourselves of this orange fungal infestation next year. Or, as Janice puts it, we will all "be for the high jump."

How Do House Dems Stop Trumpies' Stonewalling? Jailing Is One Option - But Impeachment Is Another

No photo description available.
One of the imbecilic cartoons circulating in the mainstream media that would have witless citizens believe impeachment is a frenzy or "fever" instead of a necessity with the criminal in the WH.

"In 2019, The Democrats confront the weakest president in modern history with a stronger case for impeachment than the one against Nixon."-  Former Clinton Senior Adviser Sidney Blumenthal, on 'All In', May 16.

"Contrary to Barr's portrayal, Mueller's report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific action and a pattern of behavior that meet the threshold for impeachment."  GOP Rep. Justin Amash

It's now become something of a joke piece- but shouldn't-  that House Democrats have one huge weapon left in their  oversight enforcement arsenal: sending the sergeant-at -arms to arrest anyone who flouts their subpoenas. Indeed, when Nancy Pelosi brought the subject up,  i.e. that she had the sergeant-at arms "ready with handcuffs", Trump's Toady AG Bill Barr "chuckled and walked away".  That shouldn't be nor should it be the stuff of late night jokes. In truth, not only Barr but Mnuchin, McGahn and anyone else who blown off subpoenas ought to be put "on ice" in the congressional jail.  (Or any jail - even Leavenworth if no specially designated holds are available in D.C.)

"But wait! That's unreal! That's too much!BWAAAAHAAA'"

Uh, no.  The Reeps and Trump right now have our "constitution on fire" in the words of one commentator, and our nation's future as a Republic is on the line. If you don't think the GOP will not pull out every weapon to protect the traitor Trump then you're not paying attention. And if they pull out every weapon to defend Trump as he mocks the rule of law, the Dems must pull out every weapon they have, bar none.  As NY Times columnist Charles Blow put it in a recent column: "The Democrats need to stop bringing letter openers to a gun fight."

Right now, the GOP Trumpies and Dotard himself are laughing all the way to court with dozens of court challenges to subpoenas as they have Dems locked in "process fights".  All they need to do is run out the clock and the Dems will lose, and waste time as they fight in the courts to try to get the traitors to respect House -issued subpoenas.  My take, and many more now, is for Adam Schiff, Jerrold Nadler and other House committee chairs to invoke the 1934 concept of "inherent contempt" and toss the asses of these stonewallers directly into the Capitol jail - marched there at gunpoint if need be.

No more laughing jokes, no more late night banter or talking heads (like Chris Matthews last week) opining "that's crazy".  No it's not, Chris, it's the law.  Besides, the other side - now unhinged and believing it will be uncuffed - is going full mad dog demagogue-Dictator on us.    As reported in Saturday's WSJ  ('Barr Could Spark Rule Change', p. A4),  Barr is already well underway with his counter investigation of the Russia investigation.  As he told the WSJ in an interview, echoing Josef Goebbels in his most atrocious propaganda snippets:

"Government  power was used to spy on American  citizens"

Referring to the surveillance of Carter Page and other members of the then Trump campaign, and which is total balderdash.  Barr here is totally enmeshed in the Devin Nunes playbook that it was Hillary, Christopher Steele and the FBI  who are the real culprits.  A meme long since slaughtered as specious but which the Trump traitors - including Barr - are now attempting to use to invert justice on its head, like Hitler did with the Enabling Act.

Why are they doing this? Because they can and the other side has shown no inclination to use any "nuclear" options - such as locking the fuckers up in the Capitol jail based on inherent contempt.

Worse, the mad dog himself- Trump - is now going full out Hitler  (taking his cue from his toady AG) by declaring all those who investigated him had "committed treason", e.g. (ibid.)

"My campaign was conclusively spied upon. ...TREASON means long jail sentences and this was TREASON!"

 - when he is and remains the only true traitor to this country, who has repeatedly violated his oath of office as revealed in the Mueller report, e.g.

www.justice.gov/storage/report.pdf

As Harvard Law Professor Lawrence Tribe elegantly summed up in an interview 2 weeks ago:

"What we have here is a situation where the Mueller report shows without any doubt that a hostile foreign power attacked the United States in this (2016) election  That Donald Trump welcomed that attack, benefited from it and then - the last couple of years - tried to cover it up every possible way.  That was with ten instances of felonious obstruction of justice."

Combine all the above with the fact Trump's toady attorney (Consovoy)  is trying to make the case - in expedited court hearings - that even congressional oversight in Watergate was questionable, and you will finally grasp we are in a genuine constitutional crisis. Not just on the verge of one. And how the House Dems meet it, whether in crouched position or head-on, will largely determine our future.

Take "inherent contempt" which now many talking heads are going to have to go back to school, or whatever texts on government they have, to review.  But it is essential they do before trying to explicate the full range of lawful alternatives available to stop the stonewalling and flouting of congressional subpoenas.

Legal expert Lisa Davis, speaking 6 days ago on 'Last Word' pointed out:

"Those powers go back almost two centuries actually. There is a lot of congressional power there but it's just that in this statutory era congress has not had to use them. That's because it's gotten the needed cooperation from  presidents and different administrations and been able to get referrals from the Justice Department.

Here, you have Trump and his lawyers, and interestingly the White House Counsel and his private counsel are all singing the same tune with this argument that congress does not have these powers to investigate the president or to seek these documents. That is in defiance of black letter law. These are settled rules that have been settled for many many years.

And as you pointed out, the inherent contempt powers (such as jailing) have rarely been used because it's been rarely necessary to be used....

This in many ways is like the David Frost-Nixon interview when Nixon infamously said 'if the president does it it must be legal'.  So  that's where we are. So even though there's no physical fire it's as if the Constitution's on fire and the Article I powers are being blotted out by these guys."

Which cannot be allowed to go on, so the Dems must now go "full nuclear", imposing not just fines on these scofflaws but jail time - long jail time under the inherent contempt clause. If it means  Barr, Mnuchin et al being frog marched out to the Capitol jail in cuffs so be it. That's what it's come to, but these fuckers have brought it on themselves, let's get that straight.

As one other House rep said in response to Davis: "It's just extraordinary we have come to this."  But we have and now is the time for Dems to grasp their Article I powers are being scuttled so it's time to lock and load.

Of course, the Democrats' failure to act decisively and aggressively has only emboldened the criminal even more - and at the same time made the House Dems appear neutered- or political eunuchs. Meanwhile, the Murdoch-owned reactionary media has had a field day twisting facts when they've not making mock sport at the prospect of locking any Trump scofflaw up.

In the first case one beheld Trump asslicker Dan Henninger (WSJ, May 16, p. 13, 'Jerry Nadler's Dictator') actually writing - presumably not while on opioids or MJ candy:

"The ideological divide is between a government of limited power - which in fact Mr. Trump represents, and a government with wide coercive powers, represented by Mr, Nadler."

Of course this is a joke, given it's been Trump and his accomplices who've essentially fobbed off all lawful oversight and brought us to the present precipice.  Trump is the one who's issued blanket stonewalling of all House subpoenas thereby frustrating congress' Article I oversight powers. So Henninger has it ass backwards.  Apart from which, if one reads the Constitution one sees the congress - legislative branch powers supersede the executive's.  He must oblige when oversight is implemented not refuse or block witnesses from giving testimony. As now nearly 1000 former prosecutors have concluded, if it were anyone else but Trump he'd be long since behind bars.

Then there is the mock sport on the Ds invoking inherent contempt as symbolized by the same day WSJ editorial ('Did you bring your handcuffs?), e.g.

'Did You Bring Your Handcuffs?' - WSJ - The Wall Street Journal

https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/did-you-bring-your-handcuffs-11557961699

But again, this is no laughing matter. We're in the midst of the worst constitutional crisis since the Civil War with Trump making every effort to adopt the power of a dictator or monarch.  Into this maelstrom long unused congressional powers are being invoked - given how the other side is dismissing subpoenas - which for any other citizen would have them locked up in a heartbeat.

But it may well be that this levity - including by the talking heads- is triggered by: 1) the fact the lock up -arrest powers haven't been exercised since 1935 (beyond most modern memory) and b) no one seems to believe there's a "real Capitol jail".

A NY Times piece, quoted Ms. Pelosi on the matter while she appeared at a live Washington Post event:

"We do have a jail in the basement of the Capitol, but if we were arresting all of the people in the administration, we would have an overcrowded jail situation.   And I’m not for that.”

Well, would you be for them burning up the constitution - which they're now effectively doing by blowing off all your House subpoenas?  Look, Nancy, you don't have to lock "all of the people in the administration", just the top scofflaws - starting with Bill Barr.  Let him cool off in the 'can' for a month or so, or until he complies with the issued subpoenas. Or stay there and rot.

The Times article went on to note:

"There is, of course, no longer a functioning jail in the Capitol. But a senior Democratic aide pointed out that the Capitol Police have holding facilities nearby that could be used if necessary, and that the sergeant-at-arms is able to use spaces inside the Capitol building."

Well, then do it for god's sake! It's either that or go with impeachment of this orange, ambulatory fungus, which would essentially break the stonewall tactic. As I'd written earlier (May 9):

"The Dems have no choice, especially if the Trumptards continue to refuse to respond to subpoenas. Thus, the only way to obtain the evidence needed is to take the crisis to the next level - of impeachment. The House Dems then become the lawful prosecutors and must be given the evidence, including the unredacted full report and all ancillary evidence.  "

The case Sidney Blumenthal made last Tuesday ('All In') for going ahead is especially cogent given Trump "is vastly overrated, and only appears to be strong because of  his bluster."  Adding, he's the lowest rated president since polls were ever taken of presidents and "has never hit 50 percent". This makes him ripe for the pickings. Former Senator and Watergate investigator Elizabeth Holtzman agrees, but adds Dems ought to hold hearings first to "educate the public".   This is something I've been repeating since the Barr summary of Mueller's report saw daylight.

The ammo to impeach has now been added to with Republican House member Justin Amash having come out bluntly against Trump - after reading the full Mueller report- something his Reepo House cohort have yet to do. Amash probably beheld exactly what Mr. Blumenthal referenced in Part II of the report, i.e. "there are obvious cases of obstruction of justice that have been documented, stronger than those brought against Richard Nixon."  Blumenthal here emphasized it is the similarities to the Nixon case that bear attention, not those to the Clinton impeachment which was based "on a contrived and insubstantial case."

Elizabeth Holtzman agreed,  then adding: "What the Democrats need to do is educate the public about these terrible facts, this obstruction of justice, witness tampering and cover up. Whether it's worse or better than Watergate doesn't matter. But the Senate in the Watergate era did an amazing job educating the public, and that hasn't happened here because all these hearings have been behind closed doors, or in a 440 page report most Americans haven't read."

Meanwhile, Justin Amash's points with regard to the Mueller report and Trump are equally compelling, e.g.:

1- Attorney General Barr deliberately misrepresented Mueller's report.

2. President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct.

3. Partisanship has eroded our system of checks and balances.

4. Few members of congress have read the report.

Points 3 and 4 are especially noteworthy given they're aimed directly at Amash's GOP cohort: on the one hand protecting their party over the country, and on the other not bothering to read the full report, opting for Barr's crib note version instead.

What we now know is that the situation has reached crisis point and the House Dems need to act or be turned into laughing stocks or impotent clowns. The clock is ticking and will reveal whether in fact the Democrats have the testicular fortitude to bring Uzis and anti-aircraft cannon to this  political "gunfight" or stick with their letter openers - as Charles Blow fears.
