Kevin McCarthy, for over ten years, has fantasized about becoming House Speaker, and made his mind up to do anything to achieve that goal. Back in January one of the terms he was forced to agree to - (after 14 rounds of House votes- was to submit to any MAGA caucus demands, if their psychotic lot voted for him. That included giving away choice committee posts to the likes of imbeciles like Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene- oh and also accepting their orders to begin a Biden impeachment when and if they called for it.
Well, they have now called for it, and Cowardly Kevin has bent over to submit to their terms in commencing a bogus impeachment inquiry. Bogus because there is no "there" there. It's purely a performative stunt to try to distract an easily -distracted public (look at recent polls on Biden's performance) while the judicial trials of the nation's top traitor are underway. Thus, the Repukes are hoping to gain as much or more air time as any of the Trump trials. And oh, by the way, did I neglect to mention Herr Trump also ordered McCarthy to bend over and take it on cue to begin impeachment of "that bum" Biden. Kevin, lacking balls or brains, of course agreed to his master's commands.
Let's also note McCarthy has begun this farce before even calling for a House vote to proceed (which he knows he will lose). Further, any subpoenas dispatched from this clown crew will certainly be ignored by the Biden administration given rulings - back in the Trump term - that subpoenas are not binding for impeachment proceedings unless a full House 'aye' vote has already been made to allow an inquiry in the first place. It hasn't - as former Sen. Claire McKaskill noted on ALL In last night.
Colorado Sun columnist Mike Littwin concisely described the warp and woof of this fraud back in July, noting a primary push to "write articles of impeachment" was from Lauren Boebert:
"Boebert's stunt is absurd given it would mean an impeachment without any committee hearings, without any testimony, without any evidence, without any smoking gun. It would basically be an admission that Republicans didn't believe they had to have an actual case against Biden - much less one involving high crimes and misdemeanors - to impeach him."
As Mr. Littwin also pointed out:
"We all knew that once Republicans took control of the House they would attempt to exact revenge for Donald Trump's two impeachments by impeaching anyone in sight - especially Biden."
Anyone want to bet a major shitstorm is coming? Especially if these deranged asswipes in McCarthy's goon squad succeed in shutting down the government at the end of the month.
Host Chris Hayes, on the same ALL In segment last night, correctly pointed out this whole charade is merely about extending Trump's coup attempt from January 6th. Now with a bogus series of bogus hearings to make the public (at least the lower IQ demographic) believe Joe Biden is guilty of "high crimes and misdemeanors." And 18 of the current House REEP members that'll have to vote for a valid inquiry are in districts Biden won handily in 2020. And make no mistake all of these GOP occupants of swing districts have to know their own necks are in McCarthy's MAGA-incited noose, e.g.

Both the January 6th insurrection and the current bogus impeachment effort are designed as a slow rolling coup to finish off what's left of this government before Trump is even the GOP nominee. All that in pursuit of the goal of raw power that this Trump cult cannot achieve democratically.
Fortunately, when the dust settles, McCarthy and his clown car of traitor sympathizers will surely pay the piper - in a spate of lost 2024 House elections and the landslide re-election of Joe Biden. That will coincide with voters finally having the scales removed from their eyes on the real enemies of this Republic.

Per Politico, the United States Department of Justice legal counsel issued an opinion in January 2020 that "formally declared that impeachment inquiries by the House are invalid unless the chamber takes formal votes to authorize them."
United States Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel Steve Engel said, "[W]e conclude that the House must expressly authorize a committee to conduct an impeachment investigation and to use compulsory process in that investigation before the committee may compel the production of documents or testimony. The House had not authorized such an investigation in connection with the impeachment-related subpoenas issued before October 31, 2019, and the subpoenas therefore had no compulsory effect."

Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, the epitome of Florida Man, put Speaker Kevin McCarthy on notice Tuesday. In a floor speech, Gaetz alleged that McCarthy is “out of compliance” with the “agreement” McCarthy made with hardliners during his bid for the top House position. Over four long days and 15 votes in early January, McCarthy made concession after concession to the extortionists before finally getting the speaker’s gavel.
Now Gaetz says McCarthy must “dust off our written January agreement” and “begin to comply” with it, or face being ousted. Or, rather, McCarthy must face Gaetz attempting and failing to oust him when Gaetz can’t muster enough votes against McCarthy, and/or he fails to find another sap willing to take the speaker’s chair.
