If Trump Fires Tweets At Comey Today He Will Regret It

Twitter Troll Trump plans to try to neutralize Comey's testimony using tweets. As per a recent WSJ editorial he'd do well to think twice about it - lest his administration totally goes into the crapper.

After yesterday's debacle, when we beheld DNI Dan Coates and NSA head Mike Rogers mutate into Trump bootlicker lackeys-  refusing to address Senators' questions-  we look forward to James Comey's testimony today.   As for yesterday's events, all I can say is I've never seen anything like them in following over 40 years of hearings since Watergate. Here sat these two guys, ultimately accountable to the People and the Constitution, basically saying they couldn't give a damn and refusing to answer whether Trump had tried to get them to tamp down the FBI investigation. The two Trump punk puppets - which is what we now know they are (and who ought to have been charged with contempt) - even admitted the information was not classified, and indeed had already been published in a banner WaPo article.

They just felt it was "inappropriate" to comment on conversations they had with the orange tinted buffoon in the White House, never mind that they likely pointed to obstruction of justice. So the question arises, who are these two serving? Trump  the "walking Outhouse" (Bill Maher's term) , or the People and Constitution? Sens. Angus King and Ron Wyden were spot on correct in asserting they'd get to the bottom of it. Indeed, they must, because no two officials - no matter how high and mighty they think they are - can be allowed to be unaccountable.

But this paves the way for the light years more honorable and independent James Comey today, who yesterday allowed release of his opening statement which essentially reads like a prosecutors' brief for obstruction of justice by Trump.

Meanwhile, according to a WaPo piece yesterday Trump is chomping at the bit to show he's the "man" and is prepared to go mano-a-mano using tweets to challenge Comey in real time as he testifies before the Senate Intelligence Committee today.

Trump has determined that he alone will be able to challenge the former FBI Director that Trump fired, after he refused to back down from Trump's implicit threats to back off the Russia investigation. Then to see the latest releases that Trump told Comey he felt a "cloud was over him" and could he help, sounded the proverbial Mafiosi Don telling his counsel: "I got a stone in my shoe. Can you, uh, help me remove it?"
On Tuesday Trump acknowledged in a tweet that critics have called on him to put down his phone and step away from social media.

Don't believe Comey! I am the sole voice of truth!

But despite Trump getting spanked by the WSJ two days ago in an editorial on his Twitter use, Trump appears determined to go ahead and try to neutralize Comey's testimony.  Alas, Trump does not see Twitter as a self-destructive tool. He sees it as a platform to get his “unfiltered message out.” Two senior White House officials confirmed to The Washington Post that Trump will possibly provide commentary on the hearing on Twitter.

The WSJ editorial ('The Buck Stops Everywhere Else', p. A16, June 6) didn't mince words on the effect of Trump's deranged and misplaced tweets, noting:

"Some people with a propensity for self-destructive behavior can't seem to help themselves. President Trump among them. Over the weekend and into Monday he indulged in another cycle of Twitter outbursts and pointless personal feuding that may damage his agenda and the powers of his presidency."

Well, newsflash, they already have! HIs buffoonery and out of control tweeting has already alienated most of his staff and his efforts at obstruction have essentially ground his Repuke agenda to a halt - all the oxygen being sucked out by the Russia probe. Putin, of course, can laugh and mock it all he wants - as he did with Megan Kelly Sunday night - but Robert Mueller isn't laughing and has just hired a staff member with decades of Mob boss prosecutions behind him.   And as the WSJ also pointed out:

"Mr. Trump popping off undermines his lawyers."

If Trump had any sense at all, which of course he doesn't, he'd follow the Journal editor's advice to lay off his Twitter account. But again, this is a man-child with the mental development of a 5- year old, and zero impulse control. So we know he won't, not in the immediacy of real time, then later. A compulsive tweeter troll must tweet.....rubbish.. Oh, it's possible his handlers will find some baubles to occupy his 5 minute attention span this morning, but watch out once he awakens at midnight and starts thinking how he got blown away.

As the WSJ editorial concluded:

"Mark it all down as further evidence that the most effective opponent of the Trump Presidency is Donald J. Trump himself."

Noting earlier that if this idiot's reckless tweeting continues unchecked "Trump may find himself running an administration with no one but his family and Breitbart staff."

Look for a new installment of that reckless tweeting today. Or in the wee hours of the a.m.

Devin Nunes Exposed As Bannon's Punk and Trump As Putin's Pawn

Related image
"Hey! I thought I was tweeting real news! I didn't know it came from the Russians!"

The comments in serious online forums, from The Financial Times to the New York Times, all echoed the same chords: the White House is now coming apart literally at the seams. All the efforts and energy put out to try to put the Russian 'genie' back into the bottle have basically gone for naught. The path to the final collapse - which as former Repub strategist Rick Wilson said will likely occur by the fall, commenced when Trump-Bannon 'waterboy' Devin Nunes, e.g.
Image result for brane space, Nunes
Devin Nunes - acted as Steve Bannon's trained monkey in blowing up  the House investigation.

was exposed yesterday for the corrupt fabulist he is, having essentially torched the House Intelligence Committee hearings by leaking classified "pseudo documents" from two sources - while on the WH premises.  We also now know the names of the two "unnamed" sources who took him into their confidence - as revealed by the NY Times: Ezra Cohen-Watnick, the senior director for intelligence at the National Security Council (and a pal of Jared Kushner), and Michael Ellis, a lawyer who works on national security issues at the White House Counsel’s Office and was previously counsel to Mr. Nunes’s committee.  In other words, NO outside special sources delivered any documents to Nunes, it was all an inside job - instigated and fomented from the White House. Obviously, to provide cover for Trump, and stonewall the House Russian investigation. When the heat gets too much the culprits need a trained monkey (or punk) to deflect the target - and that was Devin Nunes.

As for Kushner pal Cohen -Watnick, he was an NSA liaison (on the National Security Council)  that newly appointed National Security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. Mc Master wanted gone. As in out of there, fired. Vamanos! But on learning of McMaster's intent from a proxy, the little imp (and Mike Flynn mole)  ran to Steve Bannon and Jared Kushner (later to NSC Counsel John Eisenberg too) and  begged them for reprieve.  So McMaster, who was promised when he came on that he'd have final say on NSC staff - especially not having to tolerate any Flynn 'leftover' - got punked by the Trumpy Triumvirate of Bannon, Kushner and Eisenberg.

As Counterterrorism and Intelligence Analyst Malcolm Nance noted last night:

"You've seen the limits here of a four star general who could not get rid of a junior intelligence analyst. I mean, Watnick is thirty years old, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2004 and got a year's training at DIA so he'd have only four years experience in an intelligence position. How he got to this (NSC) position at the White House is a disgrace - because with that background at most other agencies like the CIA, you're just the guy who goes out and gets coffee."

In other words, Cohen-Watnick was the perfect foil for Bannon to use in a revenge op for a fake "security briefing" with Devin Nunes as the recipient.

Bannon, whose feral hands are all over this Nunes intel play (leaving Devin the patsy), told Trump to let him stay on - certainly as a Flynn proxy  - now that Flynn was exposed as the key contact with the Russkies.

Flynn, according to the WSJ,  is now begging for "immunity" to testify in any hearings as the rest of the rats get set to jump ship. It's all coming together - or apart - depending on one's point of view. Some of us are in the process of watching the biggest collapse of a corrupt executive branch since Nixon and Watergate. As Sen. John McCain put it as the Senate's own Intelligence hearings opened:

"There's a lot more shoes to drop from this centipede"

Indeed!

Anyway, the fact that both Ellis and Cohen-Watnick are White House insiders tells me the whole Nunes' show was conceived as a clever (well, half clever) pushback op  by none other than Steve Bannon,  to toss a monkey wrench in the House investigation. The reason is simple to grasp, as I noted in my previous posts (Mar. 21,  Mar. 23): Just when Nunes, Gowdy and Co.  thought they'd successfully steered the initial House hearings into leak territory, FBI Director Jim Comey blew their fantasies to smithereens.

Comey openly acnowledged before the House Intelligence Committee that the FBI was conducting an active investigation into the ties between the Trump campaign and Russians blew all Nunes' leak first fantasies into a cocked hat.  In essence, Comey placed a criminal investigation at the doorstep of the White House and said bluntly agents would pursue it “no matter how long that takes.”  Typically, only extraordinary conditions would see an FBI Director admitting this in an open hearing, and to quote Comey: "This is one of those circumstances.”

By this time Nunes could only have watched the spectacle unfolding before him appalled, if not in sheer terror. It went further south when Comey dismissed Trump’s claim that he was wiretapped by his predecessor  during the campaign. Comey’s response (to Adam Schiff's question about Trump's tweet) that "no information" was available to show any wiretapping had the analogous effect of squashing a bug with a sledgehammer. The final blow was NSA's Mike Rogers confirming there was no wiretap evidence, i.e. to affirm GCHQ (the Brit NSA) had assisted in any surveillance of Trump Tower.

By now Steve Bannon, watching the proceedings on FOX, was also seething but also pondering what kind of retribution might sink the House investigation once and for all. Also get back at the damned leakers that enabled things to get to this stage. Bannon, as an information warfare and fake news provocateur, knew he just needed a plausible ploy that could be turned against the investigators and at least make the media pause and think maybe Trump in his wiretap tweets wasn't batshit nuts after all.

What to do?

Bannon came up with the plan to involve House Committee Chairman Nunes via Ellis and Cohen-Watnick - as two 'dummy' sources with ostensible "secret" documents that would shed light on Nunes' House investigation. Also, show that,  hey!....maybe there was something to Trump's wacko wiretap claims after all.  And like a trained monkey, Nunes obliged and played the role Bannon assigned him to a tee. In front of the press corps Nunes claimed he  "recently confirmed" that  "on numerous occasions the intelligence community had  incidentally collected info about U.S. citizens involved in the Trump transition."

But when the otherwise somnolent media tried to pin him down, he got slippery with his responses as a trained monkey will do. Did something illegal happen? "Uh, sorry, can't say for sure, maybe".  Are you saying President Trump's personal communications were intercepted? "Uh, no, I think when we talk about intelligence products we have to be very careful". So the answer was a 'no'. as to Trump's communications being monitored.

Kasie Hunt: "So were POTUS'  communications intercepted incidentally but not specifically targeted?"

"Uh, yes, it is possible but we won't know until we get further information on Friday."

Nunes then continued his trained monkey act at the behest of Trump and Bannon  through the beginning part of this week, playing it coy with the press, and even at times snarky in response. "My sources? Why should I tell you?"

But some honest broker, a patriotic leaker - did reveal those "sources" to the NY Times yesterday, and now we know what a dog and pony show Bannon put on  - with his waterboy's help and using two NSC lackeys, Ellis and Cohen - Watnick.   I call Nunes a "water boy" because he's obsessed with finding leaks, not the facts behind the case tying the Trumpies to the Russkies.  I call Ellis and Cohen-Watnick lackeys because Bannon merely inserted them as fake security fronts for Nunes to exploit in his waterboy-monkey show.

The giveaway, as Chris Hayes and Rick Wilson pointed out last night ('All In'), was the very fact this cloak and dagger meet took place on the White House premises. Given we know NO one gains entry without being documented, the stink of suspicion turned to absolute exposure of an inside con job - on the press, the rest of the House Committee and the American public. Is Bannon laughing? Yep, he is for now, at least until he gets dragged before one of the investigations - or both the FBI's and the Senate's.

As for Trump, based on testimony at the Senate Intelligence hearing yesterday - the opening round- we now know Trump the 'great' was played as a dupe by the Russians. When I write 'dupe' I mean he acted as a dumb, willing conduit for circulation of false news, propaganda.  Clint Watts of George Washington University’s Center for Cyber and Homeland Security, bluntly informed the Committee:

"Part of the reason active measures have worked in this US election is because the commander-in-chief has used Russian active measures at time [sic] against his opponents,”

Of course, his main opponent was Hillary Clinton, against whom he made use of the most vile, recirculated  fake news stories, including that "illegal votes" were being cast and "the election was rigged". Each such tweet or remark played directly into the Russkie active measures agents hands  and dopey ass Trump didn't even know what a pawn he was. As ignorant as Devin Nunes in the trained monkey role he played for Steve Bannon.

Watts, a former FBI special agent and army officer  came under personal siege from Russian-backed hackers, told the panel  that social media accounts associated with spreading pro-Russian fake news were visible as far back as 2009.  He added that Russia possessed unreleased hacked information on thousands of Americans it could “weaponize” to discredit inconvenient sources. Those and other measures provided Russia with an inexpensive tool to check its wealthier adversaries in the US and NATO, as several scholars and former US officials assessed.

When asked why  Putin felt the 2016 US election provided the Kremlin an opportunity to intervene – the consensus position of US intelligence agencies – Watts pointed to Trump.

Wittingly or not, Trump and his former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, embraced and promoted narratives, including false ones, convenient to Russian interests, including a fake story about a terrorist attack on the Turkish airbase at Incirlik used by US forces and baselessly doubting the US citizenships of Barack Obama and Ted Cruz.

Bottom line here? You don't have to be a fully conscious dupe to act as a dupe, spreading megabytes of false information, like Michael Flynn did with the Pizzagate nonsense.

Watts further testified, to the rapt attention of the Senate panel:

“On 11 October, President Trump stood on stage and cited what appears to be a fake news story from [the Russian propaganda outlet] Sputnik News that disappeared from the internet. He denies the intel from the United States about Russia. He claimed that the election could be rigged – that was the number one theme pushed by RT, Sputnik News,”

In his parting statements Watts urged  a response to the Russian interference in the election. He also said the US approach to Russia was provocatively ambiguous. He said:

“I’m not sure what our policy or stance is with regards to Russia at this point in the United States. I think that’s the number one thing we’ve got to figure out, because that will shape how they interface with us."

So now, by this stage, the political miasma we've entered the past two weeks begins to become clearer. Two things we know now, as of today are: Nunes willingly acted as Steve Bannon's punk and Donald Trump - wittingly or not - acted as a grade A Russian dupe to spread malicious, false information about Hillary.  Both of these monkeys should be forced to account, and definitely to resign.

Devin Nunes Leaks Classified Info - Sabotages House Intel Commission - To Help Trump

Image result for brane space, Nunes
"I can't help it if I'm an untrustworthy, back stabbing asshole! I was born that way!"

Even reading and seeing the press conference accounts of Devin Nunes'  criminal actions to provide cover for Trump, boggles the mind, given he has also seriously compromised the ongoing House Intelligence Committee investigation in the process. As former Justice Dept. agent Matt Miller put it last night, "I've never seen a committee chairman come out in front of the press, pour gasoline all over himself and set it on fire, which is basically what he did"

Miller added:

"If you look at what he did today; One,  he potentially leaked classified information and two, compromised the investigation his committee is supposedly conducting by briefing the president on it and three, he completely ruined his own credibility and exposed himself as a partisan shill. And it was all for no reason because the thing he came out and revealed doesn't even back up what the president said in his original tweet. So it's hard to know what he was even trying to accomplish."

Miller's posed quandary is shared by many, and now it is clear that only the politically suicidal Nunes can perhaps provide answers. This is given his political career has effectively been terminated with this latest stunt. Let me put it another way: his career at least as a sober investigator,  now has the half life of a gnat's lifespan.

TO shed more light, let's recall it was Nunes and his Repuke compadres (Trey Gowdy and Thomas Rooney) who did their level best in Monday's House Intel Committee hearing to steer the emphasis to leaked information rather than the actual undermining of the 2016 election.  They thus used their questions to FBI Director  Comey as a way to highlight only the leaks to journalists and thereby to criticize the news coverage about the Russia investigation. Nunes at one point even bellowed:

"We aim to determine who has leaked or facilitated leaks of classified information so that these individuals can be brought to justice."

The sheer irony now that  Nunes has become the paramount leaker of classified files is whether he will bring himself to justice.. To quote Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat on the Senate intelligence committee:  “Representative Nunes’s statements would appear to reveal classified information, which is a serious concern." In effect, Devin Nunes, in a desperate move to provide cover for Trump, has committed a felony in order to sabotage the commission he chairs.  Undoubtedly, to obstruct it moving forward given that after James Comey's remarks Monday, he can sense the noose tightening around his master's neck.

So, will Nunes now do us the favor of bringing himself to justice?  He ought to! That is,  if he has any sense of principle, pride or consistency. But then, since we all know the 'pukes are the biggest hypocrites on the planet, it's doubtful.  Moreover, Nunes' performance may well have been pure obstructive gamesmanship to clutter the investigative landscape and nothing more. Consider the following:

- Nunes did not release any real information, he only put up an elaborate facade or "prop"  for such which induced the media to make its own interpretations. Hence, he created a smokescreen for what he was really up to.

- Nunes hasn't shown any real information to anyone else.

- Nunes isn't even claiming he's in actual possession of real information only that he "confirmed" something about intel intercepts. Well, HOW? Where? From whom?

- Nunes isn't claiming any laws were actually broken

- While saying he's "alarmed, concerned" etc. he's not made any coherent case as to what anybody ought to be concerned about.

In the above context, perhaps the most generous characterization one can allow for Nunes's  actions is that the man himself is simply out of his depth.   Ryan & Co. have basically asked the pool guy to be the architect for a special pool -landscaped hacienda. After all, Devin clearly doesn't know the difference between actual surveillance and collection of data - a passive activity for which one doesn't need a FISA warrant. Also, one doesn't need to redact names on the intel products or reports if it's simple collection.  (This was pointed out by a FISA-surveillance specialist on MSNBC this morning.)

On the other hand, Nunes' performance  had all the hallmarks of a classic disinformation and obfuscation hit which I've seen many times before in other investigations. They usually occur just as said "noose" is tightening or when an investigation is finally coming toward a unifying resolution.  For example, just as the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1978 was finally coming to a definitive conclusion for a grassy knoll head shot in the JFK assassination, based on acoustic tests by Weiss and Barger, two MIT scientists, up pops Norman Ramsey - an outlier no one ever heard of. Never mind, Ramsey's panel (with little or no experience and background compared to the MIT team) managed to muddy the waters sufficiently by their absurd interjections. The Ramsey Panel analysis was alleged to have  'refuted' the original Weiss -Barger study, but in fact only showed that the Weiss group had omitted some considerations. The Ramsey analysis certainly does not 'nullify' the Weiss/Barger analysis since up to now it has not been  reproduced, so cannot be accepted as a bona fide scientific conclusion. (Indeed, as per an email from another acoustic researcher, W. Antony Marsh, the Ramsey team even exceeded the claimed errors of the Barger team and at a more fundamental level)

The Ramsey insinuation and deliberate muddying had the effect of forcing the HSCA to now tie itself in knots - accepting enough of the MIT analysis to find for "96 percent probability of conspiracy" but not enough to shuck the idiotic WC version for the head shot (allegedly fired from the rear and the Book Depository when the rear of the skull was blown out - a physical impossibility).

Nunes'  deceptive and misleading replies at his news conferences yesterday echoed the Ramsey playbook, though the setting and context were different.

He said he "recently confirmed" that  "on numerous occasions the intelligence community had  incidentally collected info about U.S. citizens involved in the Trump transition."   Did something illegal happen? Uh, sorry, can't say for sure, maybe.  Are you saying Pres. Trump's personal communications were intercepted? Uh, no, I think when we talk about intelligence products we have to be very careful. So the answer was a 'no'. as to Trump's communications being monitored.

Kasie Hunt: "So were POTUS'  communications intercepted incidentally but not specifically targeted?"

"Uh, yes, it is possible but we won't know until we get further information on Friday."

Oh and here's the kicker from Nunes: "I believe it was all done legally". No shit, Sherlock! Especially after Comey and Rogers already went through all the ins and outs of FISA 702 provisions, etc.

Nunes - like Ramsey when he tried to zero in on the "errors" made by the MIT acoustics team- then expressed  concern that Trump's name and those of his team "were not properly redacted from the reports, thus unmasking their identities."  Failing to mention or note - after running with this to Trump- the logical reason might have been because there was an intelligence basis for such.

Now, what would a normal person of even above average intelligence make of this Nunes' dog and pony show? Well, pressed to get answers - mostly black and white- he or she would tend to leave out key details, which is just what Nunes wanted.  (E.g. he wasn't referring to actual wiretaps but failures of redaction in reports.)Again, that's why I told wifey I call it "the old Norman Ramsey false recording play".   Feed accurate information then mix it with two parts PR and BS and let the little denizens of the media have at it.

Nunes most significant violation was briefing the media and the press before telling Adam Schiff the top ranking Dem Committee member. Schiff, rightfully raised “grave doubt” over the viability of the inquiry after Nunes shared information with the White House and not their committee colleagues. In effect, not only did Nunes leak classified files but he leaked it to the very subject of his committee's investigation. In essence, behaving no differently from a prosecution lawyer in a high profile criminal trial who exposes court -sealed records to the press in order to incite a mistrial.

In this case, of course, the stakes are vastly higher as we are talking about abetting and aiding an act of treason.  Should Nunes be hung? Probably not, but he should pay dearly for obstruction of justice, meaning his chairmanship of the House Committee at the very least needs to end, given all the damage he's inflicted, all of it unnecessary.  Especially given now a special investigation may certainly be justified with appointment of an independent special prosecutor. As Matt Millter asked, why would a  guy pour gasoline all over himself and light it?

Maybe the answer lies in how things went so badly for him and his R-mutts on Monday. Just when they thought and believed they'd successfully steered the hearings into leak territory, FBI Director Jim Comey blew it to smithereens.   Comey’s  acknowledgement before the House Intelligence Committee that the FBI was conducting an active investigation into the ties between the Trump campaign and Russians blew all Nunes' leak first fantasies into a cocked hat.

By this time Nunes could only have watched the spectacle unfolding before him in sheer terror. And it went further south when Comey dismissed Trump’s claim that he was wiretapped by his predecessor during the campaign. Comey’s response (to Schiff's question about Trump's tweet) that "no information" was available to show any wiretapping had the analogous effect of squashing a bug with a sledgehammer.

The final blow was NSA's Mike Rogers also confirming there was no wiretap evidence, i.e. to affirm GCHQ (the Brit NSA) had assisted in any surveillance of Trump Tower. My take? Nunes quietly blew a gasket and vowed to act out, do something nuts to show he was still big man on the investigatory totem pole- oh, also Trump's little fetch doggie. (The converse idea floated by Joe Scarborough is that Trump "bullied" him into this farce. But on some reflection it is possible for both views to be valid.)

Why a fetch doggie? Because Nunes went to the White House to brief Trump, the very subject of the FBI's continuing probe, and also gave him a pseudo- basis to persist with his imbecilic wiretap claim. (Which even the otherwise reckless Nunes admitted wasn't born out by the files he released, only that certain "foreign actors were unmasked".

Never mind, the delirious Trump - like a drunk at a tavern who's downed one brewskie too many -  seized on the chairman’s comments as vindication of the Obama wiretap blather.  It also didn't help to have a brainless member of the media (CBS' Margaret Brennan) openly asking the idiot in chief if he felt "vindicated".  With this lollipop "question" tossed his way what else could Trump do but dribble all over his desk while babbling:  “I somewhat do. I must tell you I somewhat do. I very much appreciated the fact that they found what they found, I somewhat do,”   After that fiasco, Brennan ought to be put on Disneyworld animated classics duty and out of the WH scene.

In fact, the only "vindication" was that a foreign source (or sources) was picked up as sometimes occurs in NSA surveillance, especially if the sources are already persons of interest.  Even Nunes admitted the data all  “appears to be all legally collected” though in the next breath he said: "It does appear President Trump to some degree appears to be right"  when asked point blank if Trump was correct in what he tweeted- though he's not specifically right about Obama being behind  the wiretaps..    Thereby Nunes instantly catapulted his performance into an even more disreputable one than that of Norman Ramsey in his efforts to taint the 1978 MIT acoustic analysis.

Nunes by his feckless and reckless actions confirmed once and for all what many of us already believed: he is merely a Trump toady doing his master's work. After all, this turkey  served on Trump’s national security transition team, so why would he not seek to do all possible to cover for his Fuhrer? He probably figured if he got the chairmanship of the House Committee there might come a time he could blow it up, at least compromise its independence, to the point it would be next to useless.  This he did by taking the classified material he had acquired to Trump before sharing it with the committee – a decision that represented nearly a final straw for Schiff, who called for an independent commission to investigate ties between Trump and Russia.

As Schiff also put it:

"If you have a chairman who is interacting with the White House, sharing information with the White House, when the people around the White House are the subject of the investigation and doing it before sharing it with the committee, it puts a profound doubt over whether that can be done credibly."

Adding:

"The chairman will need to decide whether he's the chairman of an independent investigation into conduct which includes allegations of potential coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russians, or if he's going to act as a surrogate of the White House. Because he cannot do both."

Even Sen. John McCain admitted being taken aback by Nunes' actions and agreed that this stunt really puts the kibosh on further House investigations. He said:

"What this now really shows is a requirement for a select committee. I believe there's a better relationship in the intelligence committee in the Senate. This just shows a tremendous chasm between the two senior members of the House intelligence committee. No longer does the congress have the credibility to handle this alone."

Joe Scarborough's take this morning may be the most percipient after replaying all of Nunes' dodgy clips back:

"It is so obvious that this guy is getting bullied by the White House. I've just never known a House intel committee chairman of either party to allow themselves to be bullied the way this guy was bullied yesterday."

Mike Rogers Needs To Be Replaced on House Intelligence Committee

Mike Rogers of Michigan
It is past time now for blowhard Mike Rogers, Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, to be replaced.  His earlier comments bordered and indeed exceeded the level of recklessness, e.g.
http://brane-space.blogspot.com/2014/01/goopr-moron-pig-mike-rogers-accuses.html

Where he claimed, without one shred of evidence, that Edward Snowden was a puppet of Russian Intelligence, the FSB. According to this bloviating moron:

"Let me just say this. I believe there’s a reason he ended up in the hands, the loving arms, of an FSB agent in Moscow. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.”

Oh no, it ain't coincidence, it's not even reality to Rogers....it's all opinion and belief. Woe betide us for thinking that truth, evidence and facts matter, at least for GOOPrs.  Rogers, not content to reveal he's an imbecile, tried for idiot status instead:

“He was stealing information that had to do with how we operate overseas to collect information to keep Americans safe … and some of the things he did were beyond his technical capabilities,”

No, peckerhead! He was releasing information in accord with  Principle IV of the Nuremberg Laws to show Americans how their own government was running rough shod over their fourth amendment rights.  The "powers that be" (like you) hate the fact the constitutional crimes were exposed by Snowden and now you will have to find other ways to conceal your malfeasance.

Now, on Sunday,  Rogers stood by his dubious claim that former National Security contractor Edward Snowden had been helped by Russia. Coincidentally, on Saturday, in the latest disclosure from such documents,  we learned of the latest outrage of the NSA, to do with a program called 'Shotgiant' which enabled the NSA  spooks to steal sensitive data from the Chinese Telecommunications company Huawei.

Think, for example, if we had somehow learned that a Chinese Intelligence Agency had broken into Verizon or Comcast, and stolen the names, data of millions. We'd be in such an uproar we'd be calling for heads, or for a war. (Not that this could happen given how much of our debt China owns. Hell, we'd have to take on new debt to make the bombs to go after them!) But see, to the U.S. of A. external perceptions don't matter. All those "lesser nations", yuh know? WE can do anything we want to them, whether occupying, regime change or inexhaustible spying - but they can't do dick or diddly to us!

Anyway, Rogers was asked directly on yesterday's 'Meet the Press', if he had been irresponsible in making such a reckless charge without offering any evidence.  As one might expect, he delivered the response typical of a weasel and poltroon, using his intel position as an excuse not to provide any hard evidence:

"First of all, I see all the evidence and intelligence from everything."

How do we know that? All we have is your bloviated spiel, which isn't worth much! Your words don't mean diddly, Rogers, any more than any other congress critter puppet or agency mouthpiece in the gov't . He went on:

"When you talk to the folks leading the investigation they cannot rule it out. No counter-intelligence official in the United States does not believe Mr. Snowden is not under the influence of Russian Intelligence services."

The sure sign of a dissembling weasel! LOOK at the triple negative in the sentence! "No official does not believe he's not under the influence"....Are you  kidding me? Why not just say 'No official believes he's not under the influence of the FSB'?  Or even simpler, why not leave out all the negatives and say flat out: "Every official believes he's under the influence of the FSB". By adding the 3rd  negative he actually confirms he's a fucking liar. In other words, NO official believes there is any influence, period! Full stop!

Let's be clear Edward Snowden has consistently denied any involvement with foreign spying agencies and said he leaked the documents because he believed the NSA programs were against the best interests of the American people. (And indeed they are as I've abundantly made clear in many previous blog posts - e.g. http://brane-space.blogspot.com/2013/08/thousands-of-4th-amendment-violations.html)

As Snowden  told the Guardian  last year:

“I don't want to live in a society that does these sort of things,”

Other sources cited by The Guardian have pointed out that they have no hard evidence that Snowden is in league with any FSB, or any other foreign services. He's a bright guy, undoubtedly Mensa level or higher, who didn't need a college degree  to do what he did. He instead had a high aptitude for computer technology, hell he used a web crawler to get nearly all the NSA documents. That Rogers can't process that, merely reinforces that Rogers himself - as a Densan bozo- is mystified and astonished by talents and aptitudes he can only dream of possessing.

But undoubtedly the most insane charge of all, which shows Rogers has totally lost his mental moorings (and needs to be strapped into a chair in a loony bin, with ECT administered three times a day), is his claim that Snowden had something to do with the Russian occupation of the Crimea! Talk about off the wall conspiracy theories! This one ought to make even that ostensible, nitwit psychologist (Nick DiFonzo) take notice, in linking Rogers' full blown, baseless paranoia to a full tilt conspiracy- based mental illness.

In fact, the Russian occupation of Crimea can easily be explained by resort to game theory, as a response to U.S. pushing NATO expansion, as I have already shown, e.g.
http://brane-space.blogspot.com/2014/03/a-game-theory-perspective-on-ukraine.html

If the U.S. and its bullshitting, pompous poltroons could once put themselves in the shoes of others, of other nations and peoples, they wouldn't have to reach so hard for nutso conspiracy crap involving an ex-NSA contractor and "Russian intelligence". Nor would they have to resort to so many fucking negatives in a sentence to tell their lies. (Or insist, as NSA honcho James Clapper later did, that he was trying to tell the "least untruthful lie".)

The bottom line of all this is Mike Rogers needs to be booted from this House Intel Committee and maybe found another position more suitable to his aptitudes. Say like  screening cartoons for the next CPAC meeting!

Another Mikey Goes Berserk - What's With These Psycho Mikeys?

U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm (R-NY) speaks to the media prior to a meeting regarding the Sandy aid bill with Speaker of the House Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) January 2, 2013 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The House Republican leadership was criticized for not acting on the Senate passed legislation for Hurricane Sandy disaster aid. Pastor Mike's latest selfie. Is he a psycho?
Mike Grimm(left) , and Pastor Mike - in his latest selfie.

Seriously now, what's with all these Mikeys going berserk? Is it something to do with the name, or is it some hormone (testosterone) over-production leading to insane behavior and acts or what? Inquiring minds want to know!  Recall that we had already seen, some two years ago, a "pastor" by the name of Mike who wanted to put all atheists into a National Registry of Atheists - like a sex offender registry. This whacko actually wanted atheists to be singled out and identifiable the same way sex offenders are for current state registries! The bozo actually claimed, I shit you not:

"I mean, think about it. There are already National Registrys [sic] for convicted sex offenders, ex-convicts, terrorist cells, hate groups like the KKK, skinheads, radical Islamists, etc. This type of 'National Registry' would merely be for information purposes."

Right! Whose information?

Then, more recently, we beheld the nutso Reep Mike Rogers, going off half -cocked and accusing Patriot Edward Snowden of being in league with "Russian Intelligence".  Without a shred of hard evidence, and in contradiction to an earlier conclusion reportedly  reached by NSA,  this turkey actually said:

"I believe there's questions to be answered there! I don't think it was a gee-whiz luck event that he ended up in Moscow under the handling of the [Russian intelligence service] FSB.”

Now, we have another Mike, this one named Michael Grimm, who - as reported by Rachel Maddow three nights ago, actually confronted a reporter trying to ask him a question and going off on him with f-bombs and threatening to hurl him over a railing, after saying he'd "break him like a boy". At which point Rachel rightly asked, "Wait, do boys break more easily than men?"  Apart from the fact he implicitly insulted the reporter in making the threat.

Grimm, an ex-Marine, displayed all the bravado and fake macho that we've beheld in a certain other "Mike"  ex-Marine, who's bragged about how many bat and tire chain fights he's been in, and how many times he's broken skulls and had his broken. (No shit!)   The difference is that while the latter Mike is a nobody sitting in his den somewhere in FLA blogging baloney and hate against "homos, blacks, and libtards", Mike Grimm is an actual representative from NY  - somehow getting in on the Tea Party bandwagon in 2010. That means how he acts and what he does - especially to other citizens - has far more  import than a wannabe backwoods pseudo-preacher blogger.

Meanwhile, this current Mikey's history evidently precedes him, as Rachel noted and as others have exposed an unstable, possibly dangerous goon. That much was obvious in the video in which he corners and threatens NY1 reporter Michael Scotto. His act may not have surprised readers of The New Yorker’s 2011 profile of Grimm, which describes the 1999 night that Grimm, brandishing a gun, terrorized a nightclub full of people in search of a man with whom he’d fought earlier.

What is it with these aggressive asshole Mikes, anyway? Do they all eat the same GMO-manufactured crap and feed off the same prion-tainted beef? Is that what turns them into screwball rage-aholics replete with all the macho posturing ? Or is it something else? Maybe an inferiority complex? Like they are out of their depth and know it.

And once more, like Mike Rogers, we have the earlier lawman background. As noted in a recent piece (The Real Problem with Dangerous Goon Michael Grimm)  on salon.com by Alex Pareene :

Grimm’s actions that night at the Caribbean Tropics nightclub in Queens would have likely put a regular citizen in jail for years. But Grimm was not a regular citizen: He was an FBI agent at the time, and thus, after an internal investigation, he received no punishment at all.

Pareene went on to cite former Grimm opponent, Dem Mark Murphy, who opined that maybe Grimm is a victim of roid-rage, from steroids. But really, this level of anger doesn't require drugs to attain, only the right (wrong?) political persuasion - the arch-conservative individualist bully. In this case, as Pareene observes: "Grimm is just what happens when the worst sort of hyper-aggressive lawman transitions into another field where being a short-tempered bullying prick is rewarded rather than punished: Conservative politics"

Cut those benefits! Take the kid's food away, because his parents are deprived of food stamps or unemployment benefits! Meanwhile, by virtue of this cutting, slow down the nation's growth. Nearly 1 % of GDP is believed to have been lost in the last quarter, thanks to GOP- demanded austerity measures - the major one being to no extension of unemployment benefits for the long term unemployed.

But this is the natural attitude that really binds all these 'Mikes' in common. Be the bully, the one who pushes around the weakest, the most vulnerable, including kids. Then call yourself a "man".  But the rest of us aren't fooled and we understand that brutal  macho posturing - even in the guise of conservative "tough" love economics - only renders you a mouse.

GOOPr Moron Mike Rogers Accuses Russians of Helping Snowden

Mike Rogers of Michigan
Blovating asshole Mike Rogers - without a scintilla of evidence - has accused the Russians of aiding Edward Snowden to get NSA documents out.

The regressive mental nature of most GOOPrs is a thing to behold. Not only do these clowns militate against obvious global warming - even as the whole fucking world heats up around them with glaciers receding, ice caps melting etc. and the hottest recent years ever recorded, but new polls disclose an even higher proportion now reject evolution - which is a genuinely confirmed theory and hence hard fact.

But Reepo morons go far beyond rejecting evidence for two widely accepted scientific theories of our time. In the political sphere they actually make up reality as they go along, pulling whatever nonsense they can out of their fat asses to try to gain some sort of memetic traction.  Enter now GOP tool Mike Rogers, a Republican representative from Michigan, interviewed by NBC’s Meet the Press, who actually said Snowden was “a thief whom we believe had some help”.

No evidence, nothing. He just shoots from his yap - pulling opinions from his ass.  He went on to babble, like the inveterate idiot he is (like most GOOPs):

“I believe there's questions to be answered there! I don't think it was a gee-whiz luck event that he ended up in Moscow under the handling of the [Russian intelligence service] FSB.”

Whoa! Give that fool a bobble head of Dan Quayle! He does some hand waving with exotic initials and invokes "Russian Intelligence service" and he instantly knows he can get half the American populace, the lower IQ or "Densan" portion, to nod woody heads in agreement: "Uh, yeah Mike, that do make sense. The FSB! Fuckin' traitor thief Snowden!"

Rogers then added: “Let me just say this. I believe there’s a reason he ended up in the hands, the loving arms, of an FSB agent in Moscow. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.”

Oh no, it ain't coincidence, it's not even reality to Rogers....it's all opinion and belief. Woe betide us for thinking that truth, evidence and facts matter, at least if we're Goops. The JFK assassination? Well that was just the "coincidence" of  a lone commie nut being in the right place at the right time. But this? Oh, it's a full court conspiracy by the Russkies! Just "trust me" - according to Mikey!

Naturally, Rogers' comments were backed by another GOOP moron,  Michael McCaul (what's with all these 'Mikes' anyway?), chairman of the House committee on homeland security. Speaking from Moscow, the Texas (Tex-ASS)  Republican told ABC’s This Week:

“I believe he [Snowden] was cultivated by a foreign power to do what he did.”

You believe? Like you probably believe dinosaurs were taken aboard Noah's Ark? Or you "believe" the Sun causes global warming and not humans?  Or you "believe" Benghazi was due to a determined al Qaeda group as opposed to local Muslims outraged by a vile video? Belief doesn't cut it, maestro. And if you're overseeing Homeland Security on the basis of your beliefs, well all I can say is that Americans need to start worrying.

McCaul said he could not “definitively” say it was Russia that helped Snowden. Despite that, he had little problem disengaging mouth from brain and spouting the following codswallop:

“Hey, listen, I don't think … Mr Snowden woke up one day and had the wherewithal to do this all by himself. I think he was helped by others. Again, I can't give a definitive statement on that … but I've been given all the evidence, I know Mike Rogers has access to, you know, that I've seen that I don't think he was acting alone.”

Let's be clear Edward Snowden has consistently denied any involvement with foreign spying agencies and said he leaked the documents because he believed the NSA programs were against the best interests of the American people. (And indeed they are as I've abundantly made clear in two previous blog posts - before the last.)

As Snowden  told the Guardian  last year:

“I don't want to live in a society that does these sort of things,”

Again, bear in mind that Mike Rogers never gave any supporting evidence for his claims, but suggested Snowden “used methods beyond his technical capabilities" and had help with his travel arrangements. In this sense, Rogers resembles a certain "brother" of the fundie persuasion who when he peeks into my blogs now and then (to get himself all worked up) believes the assorted math posts are "beyond my capabilities" and I must be "doing it from memory".

The fact not processed by Rogers is that though Snowden lacks a college degree, he's one smart guy. Hell, he's probably of Mensa caliber (many Mensans lack college degrees). So the technical capabilities would not be beyond him in the context of his skill set. But never mind, because it boggles the hell out of Rogers' simpleton brain, he "must have had help".

Rogers, not content to reveal he's an imbecile, tries for idiot status instead:

“He was stealing information that had to do with how we operate overseas to collect information to keep Americans safe … and some of the things he did were beyond his technical capabilities,”

No, peckerhead! He was releasing information in accord with  Principle IV of the Nuremberg Laws to show Americans how their own government was running rough shod over their fourth amendment rights.  The "powers that be" (like you) hate the fact the constitutional crimes were exposed by Snowden and now you will have to find other ways to conceal your malfeasance.

Once again, only Reepo knuckle draggers will believe Rogers' and McCaul's  horse manure.
