"After 249 years of the American Experiment of rule by We The People, all it took was a failed businessman and so-so reality show star to break it all. His only skill is to effortlessly channel and cultivate the average American’s inner racist.
It was clearly not
“economic anxiety” that drove his (re)election, nor was it pushback against
forever wars and regime change, as the deafening silence this week makes clear.
It was the channeling of Americans’
inner racism.
So now we have a King and a shamelessly corrupt one at that.
And true to form with every fraud and grifter, unless your last name is Trump, we
will all be poorer and miserable because of it.

of America. Almost made 250." - NY Times comment

Renee Nicole Good Is Dead. Benjamin Franklin Warned Us This Would Happen…
by Thom Hartmann | January 9, 2026 - 6:25am | permalink
When I read that the young mother who was executed at point-blank range by one of Trump’s ICE goons yesterday was named Renee Nicole Good, it sent a chill down my spine.
As the pain and outrage was washing through me, it also struck me as almost too much of a coincidence that she was there protesting state violence and Ben Franklin had been using the name “Silence Dogood” — as in “Do Good” — to warn American colonists about the very same dangers of state violence.
When sixteen-year-old Franklin slipped his first Silence Dogood essay under the door of his brother’s print shop in 1722, America had few police departments, no body cameras, no qualified immunity, and few militarized patrols prowling city streets. But young Franklin already understood the danger.

On January 7, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent murdered Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. Immediately, the Trump administration sprang into action to propagandize the incident. Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin claimed that the woman “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them.” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed, “It was an act of domestic terrorism.”
Trump posted via Truth Social:
The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital. The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis. They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!
This is a national tragedy. A young woman, a US citizen acting as a “legal observer” of federal agents, is now dead. A completely avoidable death if only ICE officers could exercise any level of restraint. If only the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) wasn’t actively invading Minneapolis and indiscriminately targeting its residents—citizens and immigrants alike. If only the Trump administration gave a singular fuck about America.

Friends,
In Minneapolis yesterday, an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three. The shooting occurred on a residential street in south Minneapolis (less than a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020).
Trump claimed that Ms. Good “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over” the ICE agent. Kristi Noem claimed that “our officers were out trying to get a car stuck out of the snow when they were surrounded and assaulted and blocked in by protesters.”
Several videos taken from different angles (see, for example, here) and several analyses of the videos (see here) make it clear that Trump’s and Noem’s descriptions of what occurred are blatant lies.

Vice President JD Vance drew criticism from reporters and analysts for his efforts to absolve the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who shot and killed a Minneapolis woman on Wednesday.
Among Vance's justifications for his actions was that the ICE agent was engaged in another incident where he was "dragged" by a car and had 36 stitches and hurt his leg. The incident happened in June 2025.
"Would you think he's a little sensitive?" Vance said.
He also painted 37 year-old mother Renee Nicole Good as part of a "left-wing network" who was "radicalized" to commit an act of "domestic terrorism."
Vance closed the press briefing by attacking the media, saying they were "irresponsible" for saying an ICE agent murdered Good.

A hugely loved 37-year-old mother named Renee Nicole Good, of Colorado and Minneapolis, has been murdered in her residential neighborhood by armed agents of the Trump regime.
Videos of the brutal execution by an ICE battalion have gone viral on the internet. The killing is being widely compared to executions of unarmed civilians perpetrated by Hitler’s Gestapo.
Good was known as a “kind, caring neighbor” widely revered and treasured throughout her community. She was the married mother of a six-year-old.
Renee died immediately from gunshots to the head pumped into her car at point blank range by an ICE agent with a handgun. She was unarmed.
The viral images of the shooting show a cruel, gratuitous killing which has horrified citizens worldwide.
Representatives of the Trump regime have blamed the killing on Good herself.
On an icy residential street, Good was attempting to drive away from a scene of police confusion when a masked officer walked up to her driver’s-side door, pulled out handgun and pumped several bullets through Good’s open window. At least one bullet went directly into her face from a distance of a yard or less. As she died the car sped down the street. After it crashed, an opened passenger door showed that the air bag and interior were spattered with blood.
The killing took place about a mile from the infamous official May 25, 2020 murder of George Floyd that helped ignite the MeToo movement. Hundreds of Minnesotans held a candlelight vigil to honor Renee’s memory and express horror at the killing. A furious Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey angrily dismissed ICE’s version of the killing as “bullshit” and demanded ICE “get the fu-k out of Minneapolis.”

Minneapolis, Minnesota Mayor Jacob Frey (D) unleashed on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for a statement that a woman fatally shot by an ICE official was a "domestic terrorist."
The description of the incident from DHS, which is out of Washington, D.C., describes a scene that flies in the face of eyewitnesses and what videos have captured on the scene. DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said "violent rioters" in Minneapolis were "attempting to run over our law enforcement officers."
Frey called the DHS statement "bulls——" and went on to tell federal agents, "get the f—— out of my city."
"What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust. They're ripping families apart," he said.
Opinion | By Killing Renee Good, ICE Sent a Message to Us All - The New York Times
Excerpt:
Keith Ellison, Minnesota’s attorney general, told me that
since ICE ramped up its operations in Minneapolis, it’s felt “like we are being
inundated with a hostile paramilitary group that is mistreating, insulting,
terrorizing our neighbors.” And the residents of Minneapolis have responded:
“People have got their whistles, and they’ve got their little alert system to
tell people ICE is in the neighborhood. They’ve been protesting. They’ve been
out there trying to protect their neighbors.”
Many of these people probably believed that even in Trump’s
America, citizens still have inviolable liberties that allow them to stand up
to the jacked-up irregulars who’ve descended on their communities. The civil
rights of immigrants have been profoundly curtailed; even green card holders
are on notice that this government may detain and deport them simply for
protesting. But Americans — particularly, let’s be honest, white Americans —
might have thought themselves immune from ICE abuses.
The killing of Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three and
widow of a military veteran, tests that assumption. ICE, said Ellison, is all
but telling people, “‘You want to defend your neighbors, you’re going to do it
at the risk of your own life.’ I think that’s the unmistakable message. Just
looking at the tape, they could have said, ‘You get out of here,’ right? And
then she gets out of there. They didn’t want her to get out of there. They
wanted to either drag her out of that car or do what they did. And it was all
about teaching lessons.”
The lesson didn’t end with Good’s killing — the
administration had to smear her afterward. As The New York Times reported,
bystander footage filmed from several different angles shows that the agent who
shot Good wasn’t in the path of her S.U.V. when he fired on her. That did not
stop Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem from accusing Good of trying to
run agents over in “an act of domestic terrorism.” Vice President JD Vance
called her a “deranged leftist.”
In the imagination of some on the right, Good quickly came
to stand in for all the grating Resistance moms they’d like to see crushed. Fox
News sneered that Good was a “self-proclaimed poet” — she’s the winner of a
prestigious poetry award — “with pronouns in her bio.” The conservative radio
host Erick Erickson described her as an “AWFUL,” or “Affluent White Female
Urban Liberal.”
It’s entirely possible that had Good lived, the Trump
administration might have tried to prosecute her. That’s essentially what
happened to Marimar Martinez, a U.S. citizen in Chicago, in October. Martinez
was in her car trying to warn people about ICE when she collided with a Border
Patrol vehicle...
Since Good’s death, Republicans have been lining up to
threaten those who don’t immediately comply with ICE’s orders. “The bottom line
is this: When a federal officer gives you instructions, you abide by them and
then you get to keep your life,” Representative Wesley Hunt of Texas said on
Newsmax.
All of us, citizens and immigrants alike, are being ruled by
people who think life is a privilege bestowed by authority, and death is a fair
penalty for disobedience.
