Beware of an Impending Sedition Shitshow Tomorrow As Reep Traitors Object To Electoral College Results

"Put every member of the House and Senate on the record, and let them reap the consequences, for good and for ill, in the short term of political fallout and in the long view of history. Those who vote against certifying Biden’s victory can explain it to their grandchildren. "-   Ruth Marcus, Washington Post, Dec. 30

"We have a bunch of ambitious politicians who think there’s a quick way to tap into the president’s populist base without doing any real, long-term damage. But they’re wrong — and this issue is bigger than anyone’s personal ambitions. Adults don’t point a loaded gun at the heart of legitimate self-government.”-   Sen. Ben Sasse last Thursday in an open letter to colleagues

"By all accepted standards of political morality and decency, what Trump and his allies are up to is obscene.  In the face of more than 90 state and federal judges who have rejected challenges to the election by Trump’s campaign and his allies, and despite claims of fraud that have failed because there is no evidence to support them, Trump is engineering a scheme to contest the electoral college votes on Wednesday.  He has scraped together a cult of House Republicans and a Senate publicity hound to lodge formal objections to electoral votes in swing states where those unfounded fraud claims were raised. They plan to interrupt congressional certification, and force House and Senate members to retire to their chambers to debate and vote on the objections."  -- Colbert I. King,   '14 Days That Will Test Our Democracy', WaPo, Jan. 1st

"JANUARY 6, the day Congress meets in a joint session to accept the results of the presidential election, should be a testament to America’s enduring democracy. Yet it may become a demonstration of its poor health. President Trump, along with craven enablers such as Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), is seeking to upend what should be solemn but largely perfunctory proceedings to ratify the victory of President-elect Joe Biden. The result could be a shameless show of support by numerous congressional Republicans for erasing the votes of millions of Americans — and, perhaps, mayhem."

The above quote from the Dec. 30 WaPo says it all about yet another Reeptard-triggered shitshow that is now likely to unfold tomorrow.  This is given at least 13 Reep Senators (at last count) and two thirds of the House Reep caucus plan to object to Joe Biden's Electoral College victory - instead of ratifying it.  You think I'm exaggerating, going hyperbolic?  Then you need to read what exactly these seditious traitors are planning, e.g.

Cruz, several other GOP senators say they won’t vote to certify electors without audit of election returns

Is seditious (n.  sedition) too strong a term?   No.  Sedition "is the crime of creating a revolt, disturbance or  violence  against lawful civil authority with the intent to cause its overthrow or destruction."   This is what the rat maggot Trump, unable to accept his loss of power, is attempting to do: rouse his minions, fellow traitors and enablers into fury - along with his deluded but violent followers- just enough to invoke martial law and impose tyranny.  This cannot be allowed which is why 10 former secretaries of defense - in an open letter- warned the active military not to fall into any such Trump trap, e.g.

The Financial Times in its editorial yesterday was clear in its perception of the peril   exposed by the letter and the need to respond to Trump and his goons:

"The display of bipartisan unity is welcome — particularly since the letter is signed by such famously hawkish Republicans as Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. But it is still worrying that senior figures of this sort should feel the need to speak out. It clearly raises the question of what may be going on behind the scenes....Extraordinary as it may seem, what amounts to an undeclared coup d’état is being attempted in the U.S. It will almost certainly fail. But the next two weeks will severely test the strength of America’s institutions — and the courage of its public officials."

Who are these losers, these traitors to democracy?  In a post last week I pointed to one such House objector - a newly elected Colorado Reep bimbo named Lauren Boebert -  who made her intentions known in advance to the Denver Post:

In that Post piece  about this rabid MAGA monkey, Boebert jabbered:

"As a representative sworn to defend the U.S.  Constitution,  it is my responsibility to object to the Electoral College results that were recorded under those circumstances. The American people deserve secure and fair elections. Unfortunately, the 2020 election was neither of those."

Blissfully unaware that the Constitution has already been vindicated and validated after all 50 states certified their results on December 14th.  But never mind, it turns out she's only the traitor to democracy who's come out early.  Thanks to reporting by MSNBC political analyst Sam Stein we now know nearly half the House Repuke caucus plans to object as well.  Ordinarily, this might be little more irritating and noisome than a random fart in the wind, but it acquires ballast when supported by at least one Senator. This is because no objection is formalized unless also supported by an objection from a Senator.

We have since learned that - in addition to Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri -   12 other  Reep Senators have vowed to be the traitors who, with some 147 Reeptard House seditionists,  plan to try to thwart Biden's electoral certification.  Thereby orchestrating an indecent, undignified challenge to what ought to be a simple pro forma ratification of the Biden win.   See e.g.

The Senate’s coup-staging ‘Dirty Dozen’ shouldn’t be allowed to hold office

Egging them on is the orange -hued fungal putrescence, traitor and sewer scum -in -chief,  who may yet have to be dragged bodily out of the White House on Jan. 20th by the FBI or the Capitol police, e.g.

But in the meantime this criminal degenerate is still wreaking havoc and ready to sow civil unrest and possible bloodshed to try to remain in the office he was just kicked out of.  By nearly 81 million voters no less. (What's outrageous about Hawley's "reasoning" is that he has claimed he "can't allow 74 million voters to just be disenfranchised"  .  Thereby conflating a lower vote count with "disenfranchisement". But the deranged imp is totally fine with allowing 81 million voters who supported Biden to be genuinely screwed.

As for wannabe tyrant Trump, he already tweeted earlier this month an appeal to the Proud Boys and other supporters to come to the capital to buttress his campaign to overturn the election results.  He basically wants them to raise hell and create chaos and violence to intimidate thousands, especially the Republicans in House and Senate who may not wish to play along.

As the Post warned:

"That the president is actively seeking to incite street protests is a matter of more than a little concern to D.C. officials who — based on the behavior of some of Mr. Trump’s supporters at two previous rallies — fear there could be violence."

Adding:

"Republican congressional leaders have acknowledged that Mr. Trump’s desperate efforts to stop Mr. Biden from being sworn in to office are bound to fail. Not, though, before more harm is done to the United States’ political system and its standing in the world. We can only hope the damage from the chaos Mr. Trump is inciting doesn’t extend to human lives."

Which is exactly why I had written Trump ought to have been taken down by now given he is basically a loose cannon with too much power in a lame duck capacity - a literal domestic terrorist planning an attack on our democracy, e.g.

Therein I noted:

"In a real nation that values democracy and gives it more than lip service this orange whackjob would have been marched out of the White House in a straitjacket by now under the 25th amendment - or better yet hung as a traitor along with his enablers.  But instead the system merely goes on cruise control falsely believing "it can't really happen here "

But this is what the nation has come to now: A cockeyed, no count grifter, criminal and traitor resident-  unable to accept the verdict of 80m + Americans - now having exhausted all his legal tricks but using his lame duck time plotting how to stay in power."

This is even more obvious after the vile, verminous, rat-faced orange maggot  made a 62 minute phone call on Saturday, threatening the Georgia Secretary of State to "find 11,780 votes" to overturn that state's count in his favor. As I quoted Ali Velshi - sitting in for Rachel Maddow-  in my previous post,  after Velshi warned of the dangers posed by this authoritarian asshole, i.e.

"Trump has a cavalcade of crazy enablers, fringe kooks, members of congress, his own chief of staff validating his worst instincts and encouraging him to believe that the solution to stopping Biden is still out there. Why isn't anyone stopping him? I'm asking you, senior administration officials, still giving blind quotes to news outlets. Trump lost the election and yet your cowardice knows no bounds.  You refuse to take a stand for American democracy like they did in the American Revolution and they did in the Civil War."

At least one Republican Senator does have a sense of honor and respect for democracy. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) called the effort to use the congressional process to reverse Biden’s electoral college victory a “dangerous ploy,” underscoring the challenge Trump faces in persuading even members of his own party to join it.

In an open letter to his constituents, Sasse wrote that there is no evidence of fraud so widespread that it could change the results and said he has urged his colleagues to reject “a project to overturn the election.”   He wrote on Facebook shortly before midnight Wednesday

"All the clever arguments and rhetorical gymnastics in the world won’t change the fact that this January 6th effort is designed to disenfranchise millions of Americans simply because they voted for someone in a different party.   We ought to be better than that.”

But a party can't be better than that if all it cares about is its own power, and its own voters.  Failing to see that for democracy to function the losers (both candidates and their voters) must accept their loss.  Not necessarily with grace and decorum, but certainly without active sedition and rebellion.  The nefarious effort to overturn a just and free election marks one as no better than a terrorist.

Hell, even The Wall Street Journal (which editorials I've often skewered) and the NY Post have come out against this desperate brain fart gambit. The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board called it a “kamikaze mission” last week and said “Republicans should be embarrassed by Mr. Trump’s Electoral College hustle.”

The New York Post, which has supported Trump for years, proclaimed last Monday: “Give it up, Mr. President — for your sake and the nation’s.

But despite these pleas for sanity, and  irrespective of Sasse's words,  we see the crazies and traitors - like Hawley, Cruz, Boebert and the 147 Reep House seditionists are determined to prove to the world the U.S. really is a near banana republic.  Meanwhile, Trump's neo-Nazis have issued a call on an app called 'Telegram' for "boots on the ground tomorrow".   Also present will be the Proud Boys - likely with weapons- KKK members, other White Nationalists and according to the Saturday Washington Post:

"Other likely attendees include members of various armed groups, such as anti-government groups like the Three Percenters and Oath Keepers. Members of the youth-led Groypers, a white-supremacist group, are also likely to return. "

They are itching to incite carnage and according to Heidi Beirich, former SPLC director of intelligence (quoted in WaPo, 1/2):

"They feel Trump won the election and that the country is being stolen from them, so this is their last chance to save America.  They’re a lot angrier now, and that worries me. It worries me that now they’re deciding if they’re going to bring guns to the street fight."

So we face becoming another failed state (or soon to be after all the fallout)  with a vested interest in trying to wrest an election from the legal winner.   Those who were expecting or hoping for a much better year than 2020 are in for a shock when they see this is not to be.  We are not only in for an extended pandemic scourge - again thanks to Trump's fuckups with vaccine distribution- but also YEARS of political turbulence and unrest.  Again, thanks to Trump and his insane, seditious enablers, kooks and asslicking sycophants.  A cabal that is invested more in putting their party - or rather Trump cult- above the country. And with them, millions of zombie followers who'd rather tear the country to shreds than accept the election loss of their orange maggot leader.  They would all do well to consider the words of Colorado Repub Senator Ken Buck (Denver Post, yesterday, p. 3A):

"If we perpetuate the notion that Congress may disregard certified electoral votes — based solely on its own assessment that one or more states mishandled the presidential election — we will be delegitimizing the very system that led Donald Trump to victory in 2016, and that could provide the only path to victory in 2024.

Remember the names of the Senate Reep traitors:

  • Ron Johnson (Wisconsin)
  • James Lankford (Oklahoma)
  • Steve Daines (Montana)
  • John Kennedy (Louisiana)
  • Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee)
  • Mike Braun (Indiana)

  • Roger Marshall (Kansas) (new senator)
  • Bill Hagerty (Tennessee) (new senator)
  • Tommy Tuberville (Alabama) (new senator)
  • Kelly Loeffler (Georgia)
