In one of the toughest exchanges at the hearing so far, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) excoriated former special counsel Robert Hur for issuing a “deeply prejudicial” report that hurt President Biden’s political standing by suggesting his mental faculties were failing. But amusingly Hur's own mental faculties failed under the grilling.
White House aides point to several passages of the special counsel’s report in which it is Robert K. Hur who has the faulty memory during an interview with President Biden. In one exchange blurting:
“Please correct me if I’m misremembering. I may be misremembering.”
“You can’t make this up,” wrote Ian Sams in the White House Counsel’s Office.
And this Trump Turd has the fucking nerve to expatiate on Biden's memory? Anyway, Adam Schiff was relentless in exposing Hur's partisan gamesmanship and that he had to know the consequences of his BS report, saying:
“You were not born yesterday; you understood exactly what you were doing. You cannot tell me you’re so naive to think your words would not have created a political firestorm.”
Hur weakly responded, “What I understood is the regulations,”
Referring to the part of Justice Department policy that says special counsel reports to the attorney general should be confidential. But the last two such reports were released publicly, and Attorney General Merrick Garland had made clear beforehand that he would do his best to release as much of Hur’s report as possible.
Schiff met that answer with disbelief and scorn:
“You must have understood the impact of your words, your own personal, prejudicial, subjective opinion of the president, one you knew would be amplified by his political opponent. You had to understand that, and you did it anyway.”
Hur punted on that one using a typical Trumpian misrepresentation shtick:
“Congressman, what you are suggesting is that I shape, sanitize, omit portions of my reasoning …”
But Adam Schiff was having none of it. He was not going to be taken in by this Trumper sleaze bag and his bafflegab:
“You made a choice. That was a political choice; it was the wrong choice,”
Bingo! Almost as terrific as Shiff's slicing and dicing of this rodent was Rep. Eric Swallwell's grilling, including asking the imp if he'd accept a position in a new Trump administration if, god forbid, the traitor managed to get elected again.
Hur found this amusing and dodged giving a straight answer given he couldn't foresee the future or what his own might portend and besides he wasn't there to testify to that. Swallwell then dropped the 'bomb' presenting a video clip of Trump's assorted recent verbal mash ups before yielding his time, see e.g.
In the end, the House Dems exposed Hur for the hack and Trump tool he is, never mind his effort to dispute it. This Bozo knew damned well the political effect his bogus report would have but released it anyway, including the gratuitous insults about Biden's age and memory.
As former DOJ prosecutor Andre Weissman put it after Hur's fish wrap first came out:
"You either put up or you shut up. Meaning you either decide you are going to charge or shut up. No one cares about your personal views of the evidence or the people involved."
In other words, Weissmann is saying Hur ran off the DOJ rails into gratuitous, over reaching hack-hood. He interjected personal, partisan views and speculations about Biden which were totally irrelevant to the investigation. He needed to do exactly what the Special counsel did for Mike Pence: deliver a 1-page report exonerating him with no elaborations. As for Hur's disingenuous claim he did not exonerate Biden, that is bull shit. He didn't charge him so as Andrew Weissman noted that was an exoneration, i.e.
"What you do as a prosecutor is look at intent and knowledge, you look for facts and cooperation. Here you have what is similar to the case of Mike Pence. There is inadequate proof of any bad intent or knowledge or evidence of obstruction, and you have evidence of cooperation. That is why this case is like Mike Pence's case. And that should be the end of discussion."
Weissman then doubling down on this take yesterday ('Deadline White House') telling Nicole Wallace flatly:
"It was a mistake to appoint Rob Hur because everyone knew what he was."
Adding:
"It's not just that he's evil for working in the Trump Justice Department, but that some of the things he did while there tell you about his moral fiber. Namely, you do not make calls on cases based on what a White House wants. That is the road to autocracy."
So Hur's smearing of Biden effected by his "special report" was corrupt from the get go given it was driven by autocratic Trumpian memes. The most outrageous and disgusting aspect of this circus is that while Hur barks his baloney defending his specious report, the major documents criminal - Trump- walks free. This is especially after "Trump Employee 5") Brian Butler divulged two days ago how he was ordered by Trump's higher lackey Walt Nauta to cart 10-15 bankers' boxes full of top-secret docs out of Mar-a-Lago. These included documents pertaining to U.S military operations, as well as assets and those of other nations as well. So why isn't the spotlight on this Turd?
Well, because a different standard applies to this dirtbag. As Edward Luce writes today ('Democracy Dies In Trumpian Boredom') in The Financial Times:
“Trump’s candidacy is so far off the charts it is almost paranormal. That is the essence of his political appeal. It means he is judged by a different standard to Biden. …..Every time Trump gives a speech, he dispenses a minimum of several full-blown lies. His untruths merit a shrug; everybody else’s qualify as a scandal.”
Which recall, Trumper criminal podcaster Steve Bannon called “flooding the zone with shit” in 2018. The theory is that people will be so inundated by Trump outrages (like imitating Biden's sometimes stutter e.g.

they won’t be able to keep up nor will that want to. So they will give up and become numb.
Thereby Trump wins. At this rate and by November 5th “Bannon’s zone of shit will have long since overflowed” in Luce’s parlance, and the nation will have been delivered into the paws of an arch-criminal, traitor and serial rapist.
Given Brian Butler's new revelations about Trump's deliberate theft of top secret military documents no sensible voter should allow Hur's distraction to sow doubt in this year's general election. Indeed, when one wipes away all the multitudes of distractions and lies there remains only one viable, legitimate choice for president: Joe Biden.

House Republicans are looking forward to, as of Monday, former Department of Justice special counsel Robert Hur's testimony before the Judiciary Committee Tuesday, March 12 — weeks after the prosecutor decided against charging President Joe Biden over his handling of classified documents.
According to The Independent, Hur will testify "as a private citizen who has surrounded himself with Republican partisans and notorious figures linked to former president Donald Trump."
The Independent exclusively reports "multiple sources familiar with" the special counsel's plans, say that Hur, "at the request of the Republican majority led by Ohio Representative Jim Jordan, has arranged his departure from the Department of Justice to be official as of Monday 11 March, one day before he is scheduled to appear on Capitol Hill."
The special counsel's testimony, according to Axios, "gives Republicans their Mueller moment."
