"Hey, I'd rather loaf in Florida than stay in the White House and work! Whaddya think I am, a real President?"
"I would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done. I would not be a president who took vacations. I would not be a president that takes time off. You don’t have time to take time off." - Donald J. Trump at rally during 2016 election campaign
As I promised, we're keeping track of the Loafer-in-chief's Mar -a -Lago getaways, now recording the fifth for this loser in eight weeks. A new cost assessment for security, etc. comes to $3.6 million a trip, meaning that Trump has now laid a total of $18 m on U.S. taxpayers, to pay for his golf weekends. This is as much as Obama racked up in 18 months. (Obama averaged $12 m a year).
The Palm Beach Post reports an advisory from the Federal Aviation Authority shows flight restrictions will be in place for "VIP movement" through Friday, March 17, to Sunday, March 19. Aside from costing taxpayers millions every time he visits the Sunshine State, Trump's golfing excursions are threatening to put the Lantana Airport in Palm Beach County out of business because it has to close every weekend the president is in town. At least one business owner estimates the Airport is losing over $35,000 each weekend the loafer-in-chief and his entourage come in, as opposed to staying at the White House.
But perhaps Trump no longer feels he belongs in "the People's House" which would be pretty accurate.. Even while there he does next to nothing other than tweet and watch 'Fox n Friends'. Oh, and check out the latest pseudo-conspiracies on assorted Right wing sites like Infowars, or Breitbart. Again, let's remind ourselves this is the same turd who said Obama was "wasting tax money" and "taking more time off than any other human" barely two years ago.
The worst news? It doesn't look like our part-time "president" will halt his mini vacations any time soon. Axios is reporting Trump plans to host Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-A-Lago in early April. Before then there is more weekend in March, and one more (April Fool's) for earliest in April - when Trump ought to have a heyday with his fool pals and hangers on. But chalk up a further total of $7.2 m for those jaunts.
This elicits again the question of why the blustery braggart doesn't settle in to work at the White House. Well, because the little bastard hates to work at governance! He'd rather loaf in the WH, or campaign like when he showed up in TN a few days ago to the delight of his many yahoo followers there. That is what he considers "working"- being in campaign (or twitter) mode 24/ 7.
Recall the Donald has never really worked at a real job outside of owning his family branding business (who could order anyone to do his bidding) and being a NY real estate weasel who used bankruptcy (of multiple casinos) to make more $$$. Hell, five days into his presidency he even bawled that the job had turned out to be too much for him to deal. Too many details, too much stuff to master for an extensive government bureaucracy. Hence, his penchant for becoming a cable TV and tweet addict. See e.g.

Excerpt:
“Being president is harder than Donald Trump thought,” begins the article, neatly capturing the blithe, criminal ignorance that characterizes both Trump himself and the many dozens of millions of morons who thought he should be the leader of the free world. Yes, being the president is a harder job than Donald Trump would expect, because Donald Trump had never previously held an actual job, because actually, spending your inheritance on a succession of failed cons is not an actual job."
But hey, if the job is too much maybe he ought to resign. It beats wasting time tweeting and watching TV for nine hours a day - when he isn't in Palm Beach hosting his rich country club boys with lavish dinners or playing golf with them. On the taxpayer's dime.
I have a great idea here. If Trump loves Mar- a Lago so much, why not resign now and spend all the time he wants there? No more dunning the taxpayers! Hell, he can then avoid the inevitable humiliation with impeachment too. This is sure to come after next year when the Dems take back the House - after millions of Trumpies see how they were betrayed by the "repeal and replace" baloney the Repukes are pushing. Trump, of course, is too stupid and stubborn to do that. Like Nixon, he will wait until the last dog is hung - and just hope that it isn't him.http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/donald-trump-stunned-to-learn-presidency-is-an-actual-j-1792215349

Addendum:
This from the Denver Post yesterday (p. 9A):
- $60 M Extra for Trump-
The U.S. Secret Service requested $60 million in additional funding for the next year, offering the most precise estimate yet for the escalating costs for travel and protection resulting from the unusually complicated lifestyle of the Trump family. Nearly half of the additional money ($26.8m) would be used to protect Trump's family in Trump Tower, while $33 million would be used for Trump's regular travel costs, especially to Mar-a-Lago.
