If Evacuation Of At -Risk Afghans Fails Blame Trump And Stephen Miller For Sabotaging SIV Program

Stephen Miller, (right) the reincarnation of  Nazi Joseph Goebbels. we now know was the force behind sabotaging the SIV program to enable Afghan interpreters to migrate to the U.S.

"One thing was inevitable: The Republican propaganda machine was always going to latch onto racist hysterics about Afghan refugees as their primary response to the end of the U.S. war in Afghanistan. "  Amanda Marcotte, Salon.com

"To state the obvious: There was no good way to lose Afghanistan to the Taliban. A better withdrawal was possible — and our stingy, chaotic visa process was unforgivable — but so was a worse one. Either way, there was no hope of an end to the war that didn’t reveal our decades of folly, no matter how deeply America’s belief in its own enduring innocence demanded oneThat is the reckoning that lies beneath events that are still unfolding, and much of the cable news conversation is a frenzied, bipartisan effort to avoid it."  - Ezra Klein, NY Times, 'Let's Not  Pretend The Way We Withdrew From Afghanistan Was The Problem'

"Too many reporters adopt the talking points of critics of an administration, even when those critics have an interest to make Biden the fall guy. The media, for example, have parroted the right wing’s deliberate effort to impugn the Biden administration’s motives about “abandoning Afghans” (as it airlifts tens of thousands of them out the country) while ignoring the Trump team’s destruction of the visa system."-  Jennifer Rubin, Why So Many Pundits Find Biden n Easy Target, Washington Post today

Since the Taliban swiftly seized control of Afghanistan last Sunday, the U.S. has been struggling to evacuate Americans as well as tens of thousands of Afghan allies who have worked with the U.S. over the past two decades.

Olivia Troye (appearing on Maddow last Friday), was adamant about what she saw and heard regarding how the two traitors - Stephen Miller and Donald Trump -  sabotaged the special immigrant visa (SIV) program.  The SIV, for those unaware,  provides a path to residency for locals who worked with the U.S. government in Afghanistan.  Wonder why such a huge snafu is unfolding in getting these helpful Afghans out of the country and safely to the U.S.?  Blame the two despicable traitors - Miller and Trump.

For those unaware, Ms. Troye worked as the homeland security and counterterrorism adviser to Vice President Mike Pence. In a Twitter thread Friday, she blasted the Trump administration for its handling of the SIV program and most of her text content appeared on The Rachel Maddow show,  e.g.

There were cabinet mtgs about this during the Trump Admin where Stephen Miller would peddle his racist hysteria about Iraq & Afghanistan. He & his enablers across gov’t would undermine anyone who worked on solving the SIV issue by devastating the system at DHS & State.(1/7)

She described to Maddow  how disgusted she was that Biden is getting blamed for what the two degenerates did.  Maddow then showed a text from Elizabeth Neumann, a Homeland Security official who had served in the George W. Bush administration.  She stated she could vouch for Olivia Troye's claims and also it was known amongst officials that Trump would betray the Afghans, after he'd already betrayed the Syrian Kurds. She added that even a judge had ruled  "there was no doubt Trump broke the law with the visa delays for Afghans and Iraqis."

I had, alas and regrettably, fallen into this blame trap myself at the very end of my August 16 post, when I'd written:

"If Biden ends up having any blame at all, it will be for failing to push to organize and expedite a practical Afghan migration for all those  (maybe 25,000, including immediate family) who helped us when we needed it.   The thing that would hurt Biden most are any scenes on Afghan TV of those who helped us getting beheaded in public squares. "

I should have known better, and in fact been aware enough to have blamed the entire clusterfuck on Trump.   As it was the Biden administration has come under relentless criticism from both sides of the aisle for its handling of the U.S. troop withdrawal and evacuating trapped Afghans.  But that was before we knew how the two malignant thugs- Miller and Trump - deliberately fucked the SIV program up to the point of causing intractable delays.

Ms. Troye told Maddow she worked on the SIV issue but got "nowhere" because allies of Donald Trump and Miller at the Justice Department, Department of Homeland Security, and other agencies "made an already cumbersome SIV process even more challenging."

She also said many people within the administration believed the matter was urgent but that too many were afraid to oppose Trump's allies, adding that there were "many closed door meetings" strategizing how to address the issue.   As she told Maddow fire smoldering in her eyes:

"Trump had FOUR years-while putting this plan in place-to evacuate these Afghan allies who were the lifelines for many of us who spent time in Afghanistan.  The process slowed to a trickle for reviews/other "priorities"-then came to a halt."

Bolstering Troye's account, an Afghanistan War veteran told CNN this week that Miller "should be held accountable for war crimes" for opposing the resettlement of endangered Afghans, and that he was "complicit" in their deaths.

Miller, in case too many forgot, was the maggot behind the caging of migrant infants back in 2017 - separating them from their families.  E.g.

This proto-Nazi scum believed that would be the best way to discourage families from migrating to the U.S. In an appearance on Fox News Tuesday night, Miller said "those advocating for mass Afghan resettlement are doing so for political and not humanitarian reasons," adding that it would also be "too expensive."   In other words, never mind how the Afghans risked their own lives to save Americans, in Miller's world they were expendable anyway because they "were too expensive"

The animated Nazi sewage also said:

"The United States of America never, ever, made a promise, written or unwritten, to the people of Afghanistan that if after 20 years, they were unable to secure their own country, that we would take them to ours. That is nonsense. That has never been US government policy,"

That vile message has also been echoed on FOX by the likes of Laura Ingraham ("I never made any such promise, did you?") and Tucker Carlson ("These people could soon be showing up at a town near you!")

In the end Trump and his top Nazi  Miller were never interested in helping Afghan support personnel get out to the U.S. because they regarded them as another variant of illegal immigrants.  If they die by the thousands at Taliban hands now you know who to blame!

I’m as sensitive as anyone to the sufferings of Afghani’s now, but I’ve had it with the sanctimony of journalists and pundits who haven’t thought about Afghanistan for 20 years – many of whom urged we get out – but who are now filling the August news hole with overwrought stories about Biden’s botched exit and Taliban atrocities.

Yes, the exit could have been better planned and executed. Yes, it’s all horribly sad. But can we get a grip? The sudden all-consuming focus on Afghanistan is distracting us from hugely important stuff that’s coming to a head at home:
