The bad news is that - as I predicted in my October 3rd post- Con man, snake oil salesman and traitor Trump has proclaimed Covid is "far less lethal than the flu", (WSJ, today) and see also e.g
This after being the beneficiary of high powered, expensive treatments most of us can't afford. (See details below) As CBS' Gayle King opined this a.m.: "Such an irresponsible remark can only be regarded as a slap in the face to those families who've lost loved ones". Let us hope they return the 'slap' by voting Trump out next month.
The good news is that Covid is still laying low in Trump's lungs, ready to bring this maggot down and onto a ventilator - and all the play acting, down playing, denialism and fake macho bravado in the world won't spare his sorry ass.
The biggest joke in this PR stunt, a flailing one that no one with an IQ over 90 buys? The White House releasing two photos of the resident, in different outfits and different rooms, with an array of folders and documents. All clearly props. (It later emerged that the photos had been staged 10 minutes apart and that Trump was signing a blank sheet of paper.)
Then to follow it up, there was daughter Ivanka tweeting:
“Nothing can stop him from working for the American people! RELENTLESS!"
Yeah, right, Ivanka. A relentless piece of shit con man who - as former Rep. David Jolly said yesterday - only cares about putting on a "reality" show and lying to the American people to try to get re-elected. He's working all right, for himself!
The biggest and most dangerous con? Idiotically acting like a trained ape, ripping his mask off then yapping "Don't let this virus dominate you!" This from the obese, 74 year old wimp with cardiac risk factors who had to be given supplemental oxygen, along with the antiviral medication remdesivir, the steroid dexamethasone, and a cocktail of lab-made antibodies that fewer than 10 other patients have received outside of clinical trials.
Trump strong? Nope, we've beheld a two act play with a notoriously weak wimp and coward - who under the conditions available to most of us - might have been on a ventilator by now. But he managed to spin himself as a temporary Covid winning warrior, thanks to the extraordinary medical care provided at taxpayer expense.
But even with all that treatment medical specialists are warning he still "isn't out of the woods." As a relevant article in today's NY Times puts it:
"Medical specialists have warned that Trump remains at a precarious point in his disease course. The coronavirus can be a tricky adversary — and for many people whose cases of Covid-19 are severe, the greatest threat to survival might not be the pathogen itself, but the deadly forces that the body marshals to fight it.
To quash the virus, the immune system unleashes an arsenal of powerful weapons. Sometimes these turn inward and destroy healthy tissues. Combatting this friendly fire has become as crucial a part of the Covid-19 treatment strategy as subduing the virus itself."
Adding:
"Should the virus gain a foothold, it will swiftly infiltrate cells and repeatedly copy itself until levels of the virus, or the viral load, build up. The viral load may even peak before symptoms appear, if they appear at all."
Of particular future risk to the Dotard - since he received this steroid:
"Experts say that administering dexamethasone inappropriately, or too soon, could undermine a helpful immune response, allowing the virus to ravage the body. "
Also:
"At 74 years old and about 240 pounds, Mr. Trump occupies a high-risk age group and verges on obesity, a condition that can exacerbate the severity of Covid-19."
Let's hope when the next onset or relapse arrives, as it well might given this idiot's recklessness, it takes him out for the rest of the month - or at least until after the election. At least to the point he can no longer interfere in the election with screams of "Fraud!" or issuing orders to his army of racists to march on polling stations.
As for the next scheduled (Town Hall) debate in Miami, two things:
1) Trump must have three successive negative tests before being allowed to participate.
2) Trump must agree to the new rule that allows the debate moderator to "pull the plug" if there is interruption of one's opponent. We cannot have another debate "shit show" like the farce on Sept. 29th.
Trump has had his day, and is now hoist on his own petard of lies, narcissist bullshit, and propaganda. Deep down, even if the virus doesn't finish him off, the voters will on November 3rd. As WaPo columnist Eugene Robinson wrote last week: "We will finally be able to evict him from our headspace!"
